Once again, thank you all for signing up for the mixing ladder this year and for being patient as we get everything set up! As a reminder, here is the schedule for each round:

**ALL TIMES ARE IN EASTERN TIME (GMT -4)

Monday - Sunday 11:59 pm: Mixing
Monday - Thursday 11:59 pm: Voting
Friday - Sunday 12:00 pm: Callouts/challenges for next week

**Please note that the first round’s callouts will begin THIS WEEK in THIS THREAD. You have until 12:00 pm Sunday (6/17) to call out/accept your first challenge.

We want this year to run smoothly, so I’m going to go over the rules and procedures one more time:

  1. Challenges are accepted on a first come first serve basis. If you are challenged you cannot challenge anybody else for that round. When challenging another DJ, please follow this format: DJ X (25) challenges DJ Y (23). You may only challenge someone up to 3 positions ahead of you.
  2. If a challenge is not accepted in time, the challenger will automatically win.
  3. You cannot challenge or be challenged by the same DJ 2 rounds in a row
  4. Each mix must be at least 45 seconds long, and cannot exceed 1:30
  5. Please email your mixes by the 11:59 deadline to btfmixingchallenge@gmail.com. The file must either be an MP3 or WAV. Please include your DJ name in the subject line.
  6. In order to vote, you must have at least 10 BTF posts (troll account posts will be verified).
  7. In case of a tie, Saleem will act as the impartial judge to decide whose mix should win
  8. Absolutely no plagiarism
  9. You cannot disclose in any capacity which mix is yours when it is posted. This can include putting your tag in the mix, commenting on the challenge thread, liking votes for your mix, reposting, or sharing. You will automatically lose the round if you do not maintain anonymity.
  10. In order to keep the ladder active, we have decided on a penalty system if DJ’s are late or unresponsive
    1. If a you accept a challenge, but are unresponsive or late, you automatically lose that round and face a strike or a demotion to the bottom of the ladder. If you expect to be late with your mix, pm a mod ahead of time.
    2. After 2 rounds of inactivity, you will automatically be removed from the ladder.

If these rules are not followed, you can face demotion, a strike, or removal. You are allowed one strike. You will be removed from the ladder if you receive two strikes.

Prizes:

We have decided to give prizes to the following three participants in the ladder:
  1. Overall Winner
  2. DJ who advanced the most
  3. BTF user who provided the most constructive feedback

The ladder this year was determined based on both randomization and experience. We tried to spread the most experienced DJ’s toward the bottom half and spread the less experienced ones towards the top. As was mentioned earlier, the ladder this year was only open to the first 30 participants. Those who did not sign up in time were added to the very bottom, in the order in which the signed up. Remember, even if you are at the very bottom, you will have plenty of opportunities to work your way up.
