Front Turla Help
« on: March 09, 2011, 08:37:20 PM »
How do you tie a clean front turla by yourself? I've been having a lot of trouble doing this. I know that their used to be a video up showing you how to do it yourself, but it's been taken down for some reason. If someone could post another video that would be great!

Thanks!

Thanks for the vids but the videos in the link you sent me are dead/removed. Why are all the apparently good videos being removed off YouTube and do you have any more?

By the way, I have a joora with patika and all and I was a little concerned on tying a front turla in general. I don't there has been much discussion over people with jooras trying to tie a front turla pugh.

Well I think there are more.... The one's that are "self done" are well in short supply. It's almost impossible to find them.

For a joorda, its easiest to loosely tie your hair on top of your head and spread it out around so its sorta "flat". Then just tie a piece of cloth (could be your patka) on and tuck in all the remains (wrap the lardh around and tie them somehow, be creative :P). As for tying, it's the same method, only you're doing it on yourself. All you need to know is the placement of the lardh, and the rest will come naturally with practice I suppose. So just watch the vids and watch other pagg tiers at comps to see how each one takes a slightly different approach. Adopt one technique and just practice practice practice!

i remember reading on some thread, that teams that have only one pagh tier, tie their own pagh on someone else, put it on themselves and have someone tie the patti relatively tight.  worth a shot if you're not comfortable tieing on yourself.

The achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself.

Tieing a Pagg on yourself is no different than tieing it on anyone else.
Here's what I've learned from practice.

1.) Tie a jooda tightly and towards the middle of the head. You don't want the jooda in the front as its going to be difficult to tuck in the turla.
2.) Tie a regular patka over the jooda itself.
3.) Start tieing the Pagg. Make sure that the 1st two larhs are SUPER TIGHT, and the last 3 larhs are "not too loose / not too tight".
4.) Tuck in the last larh securely. This will determine how easy tucking the turla will be.
5.) You tuck in the turla and start shaping in. In order to shape, you want to make sure that you're tucking in the sides from the back. As long as you tuck the pagg from the back, the shape of the turla will come out perfectly.

Hints: For the larhs, make sure that the last two/three larhs don't have too much of a gap. When you tuck in the turla, the larh's have a tendency to move up. So if they're tied closely, they will move to the perfect size after the turla is tucked in.

It might be easier to just to a jooda like you regularly would and then leave it loose so it flattens out just like GSingh said above.
As far as tieing a patka on top try not to double knot it because where the pagg will fall on top of the knot it'll start hurting like a b****. so try to just do one knot and it'll stay tight once the pagg runs over it.

Sometimes though having a patka underneath makes it harder to tuck in the turla and even the last larh because of the friction between cloth (look at me sound all smart and what not :D haha) if you can tie your patka high enough where you can leave some hair out of it from the front that'll help the turla to sorta "slide" in easier. If you can try tieing without a patka one or two times and see how that works but without a patka i'd suggest to do a tight jooda more toward the back/middle of your head sorta like the Kray twinz haha :D

and im not sure about really shaping the turla yourself i've never tried that i just do the tieing and then i usually have another member of the team sorta shape it out :/

Thanks a lot guys! Your tips are defiently helping me out and all of those other "Joora" ballers. lol Tieng a joora in the middle/back is defiently a weird feeling, espically with a patika. I've defiantly learned from this experience of doing a front turla pugh.
