Help - Making a poster for bhangra lessons
« on: July 16, 2011, 02:43:08 PM »
I was wondering if you guys could help me put together a poster or page filled with info for bhangra lessons.
I live in a small town with a few people who might be interested in learning.
I'm just unsure of what to put down on the page to fill it up besides the basic contact and location information.

If anyone could help me out that would be great :)

i think he's unsure of what he wants to put on it, not the style aspect of the stuff

i'd put where bhangra originated from, THAT IT'S GOOD EXERCISE, and that it's somehow connected to bollywood. easiest way to frame it so it's digestible to a non-indian/bhangra-familiar audience.

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for.
Also, it would be nice if someone could set it up too.
I've got no idea on what to do when it comes to this stuff.

whenever i explain what bhangra is to someone i always mention that it started as a dance commemorating the arrival of the harvest, performed at the harvest festival vaisakhi
but over the years, it's evolved into a major aspect of indian culture, and been influenced by modern musical movements. it's as much it's own brand of music and dance as hip-hop.
as for the dance itself, it's very energetic and pretty different from other dances as a dhol beat is very unique.
