  • Team: I have no team, I just have questions and need advice.
:) Hi the name's Priscilla. I am Filipino and I fell in love with the dance and I want to try it myself..Does anyone have anyone have advice? I know this is a team's website but I thought joining it, I would get some really good answers..And I also told my mom I want to do this dance as a performance at her wedding..

Best thing you can possibly do is watch videos, in my opinion.

Hello Priscilla/SOOMPiBABY
Welcome to BTF! I am Caucasian and have been in the bhangra scene now for 3+ years with coaching, organizing and dancing. There are a few other non "brown" dancers on the site so feel free to pm us. The best advice I can give you is to check out a bunch of teams performances on youtube or the ones posted on BTF so you can get a feel the different styles and the distinct beats in the music/songs. There are also a few very helpful  bhangra step/ how to video's on youtube (I believe if you us the search feature you will be able to find the threads that contain the links).

If you do not mind me asking where do you live?

Like she said above depending on where you live, you may be able to learn from local teams as well. The Bhangra community is always welcoming to newcomers.

gori pretty much hit all the points; depending on where you live you could contact local teams to see if they would be willing to teach you; they could even have their own academies where you definitely could learn. Use the wiki moves/steps guide for some video links on what certain moves are. Watching lots of bhangra videos will help, excessive use of GTV (aka user 'harjothundal' on YouTube) will be a plus.

Welcome to the site!
Because bhangra is joy unbounded.
