number of turle = X.    X cups of water, + X table spoons of rice flour.  Put water first then flour into water in a pot.  Throw it on a stove and turn onto high.  continue to stir, NEVER STOP! you don't want it to clump up on the bottom or on the sides of the pot.  You'll notice the clumps as u stir when the water becomes very white.  When the 'liquid' becomes fairly thick(you know what it looks like)(SOB quote), turn off heat and let it cool for about 10 mins until its warm and you can handle with your hands.  thats how we make mava.  it works very well.  it takes a bit of trial and error but once you get it, it works wonders.  if you got more questions msg me

I know there was a topic earlier about how exactly to tie paghs...and I'm pretty sure this was mentioned before, but would someone mind telling all of us new to Sta-Flo the best way to starch a turla...? Or if someone wouldn't mind linking us up again to that thread? I can't seem to find it :(

2 cups water, about 3 tb sp corn starch. Boil it, keep stirring it, when its boiling, let it cool down. Put the turla part in the container wet it, then squeeze it out, then do it again, but not as tight and leave some maava in there. Let it try naturally. Dav college paggs.

USE STA-FLO!

The major problem with mava-ing pugs is that a lot of teams think that the turla needs to be rock hard. When we started doing mava, we had the same mind set. And then one day we ended up with what we thought was weak mava, but it was actually perfect.

From what I saw at Bayside, Sta-Flo is pretty much perfect. The mava is on point because it stays up, its doesnt hurt the head of who ever the pug is being tied on, and it doesnt hurt the pug tiers hands. I zipped through tieing pugs for the gaurdians, but some teams were extremely hard to complete because of the turla.

I'll post some pointers on how to tie a pug asap.

one thing we also do is NEVER squeeze the staflo out..let the part that is wet with sta-flo hang over an ironing board or a counter or something..and let the water drip out. this way the water drips out with the actual starch of the sta-flo staying in the pagh.
what we do is starch the pagh friday night (assuming competition is saturday night) and let them dry over night. they should be good to go by the next afternoon.

it also depends on the type of pagg ur using. for paggs that have shiny lining or sitaray, i found that sta-flo doesnt work as well...or at least that u have to REALLY saturate it nd let it dry a couple times over b4 it good enough for a sturdy farla. but for most other pagg materials (voil, rubia, etc), its pretty fool-proof

on the issue of the shiny lining type of paggan...you need to double dip the pagg to get a good starch on it. it  also has to be saturated for it to soak it all up. what i like about sta-flo is the fact the consistency is always good. i usually work with full vial paggan, and those are just awesome. perfect fabric for starching.

they have something similar in Canada, and you also get it at walmart.... its called spray n starch or something, its used for ironing and it comes in a big blue can! i used it on 4 normal paggan and the turle turned out legit, you just have to spray the turla part until water starts dripping out and leave it for a night... after that ure set
