WD-40 the wood, it'll make it so the saaps don't "stick" when you try to expand/retract them.  I tried this a year ago and it worked just fine.

Smear some chamanprash on them and leave it by a heater... works wonders over-night.

mustard(saron) oil.

I got a big bucket that would fit a saap, put the saap in it, poured a bunch of mustard oil on it to the point that it was submerged, let it sit for a bit, then hung it up from a rope to let dry in the sun. The next afternoon all the saaps were dried, and moved as smooth as butter

^ all of those suggestions work great but some saaps also just take some time to work in.. after a couple uses they should be less sticky/stiff

Yeah.  Just keep using them and they'll loosen up.  Also builds up your muscles so when they are broken in you'll rip it

Maybe Ankur meant to write chyawanprash? The herbal jam type of stuff? lol.

Just taking a guess because I never heard of chamanpash either.
