Hey Guys,

Wanted your thoughts on a new idea I have for Desi Dhamaka...IT would be 2 seperate categories..5 Bhangra Teams compete in the Bhangra Category, and then 5 Fusion Teams compete in the Fusion Category

The Fusion Winner and Bhangra Winner would then compete in  1 last dance in the end of the show for the trophy...

Now there will be a cash prize for both categories and then the trophy for the Ultimate Winner.

Just trying to mix it up and come up with something new..has this been done before..its almost like 3 comps in 1 show.

I personally would perfer a Bhangra only comp. because its fun to compete with atleast 9 other teams rather than just 4. Its a good idea none the less and I think it has been done before. On a side note you can't really judge Fusion and Bhangra at the same time.

dancing twice in one night sounds like a fun challenge, i say you do it.  fusion is fine too, always fun to meet other types of dancers.

Meh. Dislike.

I don't think you make a fair comparison between apples and oranges.

Thats true, unless its like a two day event. People are going to be mad tired from their first performance.

come on guys..I seen teams come in and give there all and want to go back one more time right after to dance again. It may sound tiring...But once your up on that stage you get this gush of adrenline..Am I wrong..I agree it tough to compare fusion and bhangra. Thats why there will be cash prizes for the individual category, but for the fusion vs bhangra it will be a trophy..

hey guys,

Im actually on a fusion team and we have a competition called NNR (Naach Naach Revolution). Its done kind of in a tournament style, so each team prepares three dances, each of which is like 2 minutes long. And there are three rounds of judging. If you did the competition kind of like that it could work. Maybe each team performs a four minute dance and then the winners do another four minute routine for the trophy.

On a side note, im not really a fan of competitions which judge multiple styles of dance against each other (BOB, Phillyfest, AKD), but thats only my preference.

I don't think you make a fair comparison between apples and oranges.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME APPLES ROCK!

In seriousness, though, this presents some issues:
- If the last team to dance is selected, they're at a stamina disadvantage to the other team
- Comparing apples to oranges
- How long is the 2nd round dance? I would hope teams dont need to come to the show with TWO full-length dances, that'd be ridiculous.  The 2nd round dance should be 90-120 seconds showdown

Interesting concept though

Preparing two sets would probably not fly, especially since all but two of the teams wouldn't even get to use their 2nd one.

Having something like a round system would be interesting. But the routine timings should then cut down to 3-4 minutes. It would be an interesting concept hahahhaha

there are teams that can dance for 3-4 minutes and look solid and die out by minute 5
3-4 minute rounds for bhangra is just not right
Bhangra requires stamina just as much as it requires anything else
some dancers will be able to pull off a complete 8 minutes or so but a true test of a team is when all 8-12 dancers are capable of maintaing their stamina throughout the set.
no point in giving an easy break
the same dancer that struggles with stamina issues is then capable of looking like a master of bhangra

sounds kinda like BOB (best of the best) just with a second performance...its hard doing a second performance b/c you stiffen up but it is impossible to compare fusion and bhangra...like to the audience, bhangra will almost always win (unless its traditional) b/c it's more entertaining and powerful...great example is BOB - DRP and Bhangra Empire completely destroyed the rest of the teams for winning the best of the best trophy...
Hoy Hoyy!!!
