I was looking into dhols, and wanted to know what would be the best dhol to get... Fiberglass or Wooden? As of right now i have two Wooden ones, but both need to be fixed... im looking to buy a new 1 and saw fiberglass is cheaper but does it sound as good?

What are some of your opinions?

NEVER buy fibreglass dhols.....there garbage and produce a "fake" sound. same goes for CLEAR plastic dhols. stick to the roots and buy a traditional WOOD dhol. there are many types of wood that dhols are made out of. amb is the cheapest wood while taali aka sheesham is the highest quality and most expensive. if your an average banger go for amb wood, but if you want good a good quality dhol go for a talli aka sheesham dhol. it doesnt have to be kaali taali (which is the BEST wood for a dhol) it could be chitey taali, pure taali or kachi paaki taali. HOPE that helps

Honesty it all depends on the person choice. I used to hate the fiberglass dhol before but i don't anymore since i heard the proper sound. The dhols you hear in bollywood music is all fiberglass dhol. It doesn't sound that bad, but eh i prefer wooden dhol also. Taali dhol would be the best one. Is there anything such as kaali taali? because the ustaad ji i talked to said taali is taali. May be it turns kaala after you put masaala on it?

OH YEA! Any body got the recipe for the masaala???

AHAHA i wish i had the recipe...thats some TOP SECRET shit...and kaali taali is the HIGHEST type of wood for a dhol and these dhols are mostly used for LIVE bhangra performances.
