1. KJ and TBT were two teams that definitely shifted the scene and moved bhangra forward

All the other bhangra teams that are out there today are spin offs of these two teams in one way or another... Just think about it...

2. This is false.

Really?  What is false about it?

Hey Guys

It’s good to hear everyone’s feelings and thoughts about this, but when I initially started this thread it was more towards teams which have influenced bhangra and made us appreciate a style, approach, and technique that was were not observed or overlooked before….They not only influenced all of the bhangra dancers, but even the audiences, judges, competition execs and so on….
We cannot name every grade A team out there, if that was the case, than this thread would be labeled “Teams That Were Successful at Bhangra.” But with that said we can say that there were certain teams that were inspired, motivated, and enthused by what these teams did and they noticed the revolution, adapted their  team towards it and just RAN with it….a prime prime prime examples of this is SGPD (and many many more)…

Many teams branched off of KJ's style so I'm not arguing that.  But you seem to be saying that every team today branches from the two "parent" teams KJ and TBT.  And when I see the spectrum of traditional bhangra teams (from STRAIGHT FOLK live bhangra + traditional bhangra to fast (but traditional) bhangra moves to music), i see elements completely foreign to TBT.  TBT did Live, in an unorthodox way, but they did live.  Traditional co-ed teams (VCU). Toronto-style teams. etc.  There are so many variations here, and it goes leagues beyond what TBT worked with.

Pretty sure every team out there falls into one of these categories these days... Theres no such thing as an entertaining live bhangra... I dont even want to get into that conversation...

Lol you can't be serious bro. You can't categorize everrry single team under those 2 that you believe set the foundation. And please dont tell me you actually think that TBT portrayed true style of bhangra. Lol they basically did whatever KJ did, but instead chose to have a dude on the mic sing songs rather than recorded music.

And I don't even know what to say to you when you say that "no live bhangra is entertaining," except that that is YOUR opinion. Don't post it like its a universal fact.

the old school SFU girls team, I think this team has a lot to do with competitions and them becomming so big, and not just dieing out, but one team that comes to mind when it comes to it is Cornell, this team when they broke up had members start their own teams and too kthese teams far... Florida, Mich, and a whole bunch more, but they all started in Cornell as far as I know.

LOL, wtf.
1) Khalsa Junction (Name does not have anything to do with bhangra, rather has to do with Khalsa)
Really, so KJ set a foundation for all the teams we see today? Their style was more gimmicks based, a lot of stunts and entertaining for some people who did not know what bhangra is. Yeah they started their own style of bhangra, which many people liked and many people didn't. 60% of the dance was not real bhangra. May be because im more on the traditional style. Nothing really worth setting a foundation.

2)TBT- Did live, but they did live with punjabi songs, not bhangra boliyan. They did bhangra, but they did modern bhangra in my view. So i don't even think they can be called a foundation team.

No such thing as Entertaining Live Bhangra? WHAT!!! O TERA SARD JE ANDAR!! What is Bhangra? \o/ funny.
Shaheed-e-Azam Sardaar Bhagat Singh Ji
If Punjabi is not spoken, it will die; If proper Bhangra is not done, it will die.
What happened to Bhangra? I will blame you for the day real animals start coming on stage. Your team is doing well for now.

Okay, I'm just gonna put this out there (and I of course agree with all the aforementioned teams for the most part). NYU Pandemonium

Legitimate Reasons
1) Brought bhangra and real hip hop on the same stage
2) Opened eyes of non-bhangra people to the concept of bhangra through a healthy medium of fusion dance
3) Had some pretty memorable mixes

+1.. come on man

abhi, real hip hop? what is that? grills by Nelly?  Bring em out by T.I.? Definately a negatory on your statement...if you brought real hip hop on stage, it would be real hip hop, not pop music...

Your mixes were decent at best...self-pumps are risky my man, don't do em if you can't back em up...

Pretty sure that non-bhangra people as you like to call them, already knew about bhangra from the 10 years of dancing by other teams before yours, your self-righteousness needs to relax.

i like your team, but don't malign it by professing to be one of the most influential teams in the history of dance teams.

Amen.

NYU Pandemonium, in my opinion, made fusion more appealing for guys. It did very little for the bhangra circuit. Sure, you guys were a force to reckon with in the fusion circuit, but we're talking bhangra here.

I have no idea what I'm talking about because a few chumps on this website don't agree with me?  Please son, stick to soccer and refrain from commenting on my posts...  You always say the same shit over and over again without providing any substance...  Could you sit through 8-10 live performances?  Don't even fuckin lie about it, speak the truth...  There is a reason why we dont have all live competitions...  I know that the dancers love performing to a live, thats great... That doesn't mean it's fun to watch... Learn to seperate the two... In the end, it's bhangra, some people on here think it's a way of life...  I don't sit here and watch every live performance out there, I have a life beyond bhangra...There might be that one live performance that was out this world, but as a whole, live bhangra has as much excitement as the 1st day of a test cricket match...
So long BTF, it has been my pleasure... Post 999 will be my last...
