Ridiculous. "Too many people playing basketball, why dont you let the NBA players just do their thing and you sit and watch."  Let people do what they enjoy, especially if they're coming on here to get constructive criticism and improve.

this is probably the stupidest thread I've ever read in my life... If they like mixing songs or in your words being a " DJ " why do you care ?

this too many people want to be dj`s is common at age 12. and then the rest are guyanese, trini, and some tamil dudes only difference the guyanese/ trini guys are in senior highschool grade 11 or 12, even mid twenties and they still think they are dj`s mixing that terrible off beat music called soca and chutney.... what the hell is chutney? panchod main chutney kahnda renda teri chutney ki ah ? that shit is worse than the euro techno trash that was produced before 2008.

the ones that call themself dj`s don`t get gigs they just get facebook likes from friends and a few people on btf who feel bad for them

but if you get gigs then your worthy of being called a dj

There are also a ton of differences between being a A) live DJ (i.e. weddings, engagements, house parties) vs. B) making remixes (via computer) vs. C) making remixes (via equipment, turntables, sets) vs. D) producing music (via instruments, keyboards, software) vs. E) playing live music (band, instruments, dholis, etc.).

I think a lot of peopel find it easy to start by making remixes via computer, since that has become child's play these days (although a good remix, actualyl still takes incredible amounts of skill). Option A and C are more capital intensive, and require an incredible amount of time to gather a library and develop ur turntable/mixerboard skill sets. Option D and E are quite possibly the most capital intensive and time intensive...and require and incredible amount of learned and innate skill.

But everyone has to start somewhere...

Hey guys i just wanted to announce that I'll be releasing my mixtape next week. After that I will be hands down the North America's finest iced out DJ.
For the first thousand downloads it will only be $4.99, for the next thousand, it will be $9.99, and so on. So get your copies while they last, forgetting the fact that it's an internet release with unlimited copies available. I'm already booked for New Years, sorry folks.
100% authentic Garageband mixed.
I will be posting daily updates until the release, with five second samples of my work.

DJ RanjaGabrooSherJawanTandaTandaPaani AKA "DJ RGSJTTP"

JOOOOOOOOKES - on a more serious note, I love keeping my IPod stacked with new fresh mixes :) from random people making music! Just look at DJ Ra - he's a med student but he just fiddles around on the side and releases some pretty sweet tracks! I think he even started getting some gigs at bars around town and stuff haha!

shouldn't stress over new dj's (or mixers watever they call themselves). I see it as if someones really serious about their work and if they pursue it seriously then eventually overtime they'll get where they want to be with this mixing stuff. The problem is the ones that get something slightly going and then just release it overnight expecting everyone to be thrilled over some shit with a added hoi and a dhol loop. Dudes like those usually end up quitting soon anyways so i guess it all works out.

there can never be too much good music, most dj's have potential and will improve if their shit. It should make 0 impact on your life if someone called themselves a dj
if i called myself a hyena would it bother you?
No. no it would not is the correct answer.
