Alright so two interesting pieces of news for you bhangra heads:

Bhangra Teams’ Forum – Competitions/Teams Listing

A much-awaited feature is coming into beta and will be in your hands soon, BTF’s Competitions and Teams Listing (final name yet to be chosen

The listings will tell you at a glance all about a competition (its history, placings, etc), what competitions are coming up, recent placings, competition and team contact information, and more.

This awesome project is being developed by Swi, who has been kind enough to volunteer his time and skills to make this a reality after so long. We’re going into closed beta with this now, and Swi needs testers and people to help submit competition info!!. Please PM him to volunteer.

In the coming future, you’ll be able to:
- See recent competitions and placings
- Browse upcoming competitions
- Easily get Contact information for Competitions
- Search by ZIP for nearby teams for exhibitions/weddings

I’ve made Swi a BTF Moderator. He joins our current, outstanding team of mods to help keep BTF a quality place for discussion. He’s been a constant help and voice of reason in escalating conversations, and I’m sure he’ll be a great addition to the team.

Swi deserved it... I've been BTF stalking this guy (no homo) and noticed that when he does decide to post, there is always some meaning or perhaps a lucid message he is trying to promote.

Saleem is great too.. this addition will make BTF much easier and there will be no need for sifting through garbage/useless threads

This should be a great addition to BTF (and a great asset to BCD - as said before, it still seems the two projects have different goals and are still quite different in execution).

Hey guys,

Thanks for the support for mod, really appreciate it and I'm excited to help move BTF forward in a lot of new ways. One of them is obviously the database I've been working on (It deserves a sexy name so feel free to suggest stuff)

The goal, as Saleem stated, is twofold.
1) Have an exhaustive list of competitions and placings (past and current)
2) Have a dynamic and functional system between teams and the public

One idea is if we have all the comps and all the teams on the circuit (active and inactive) then you can look up teams by zipcode and see where they have competed, get contact info, etc.

I need around 5 people total for:
-beta testers for the web interface
-data collectors/verifiers for the actual data

finally, after we have an exhaustive list, my goal is set up a power ranking system! I'll set up discussion in another topic once we get started, but if you have any experience with statistics and/or ranking systems let me know.

First off, congrats on the moderator position Swi! Definitely well deserved; you've been active and been doing a lot around here behind the scenes to help BTF improve as a community.
