I think if you have jay sean, kanye west or any of the big names come... 2 things will happen...
1. you will be attracting 2 different crowds... bhangra heads, and a mainstream hip hop crowd... Most bhangra heads listen to hiphop, so they wont get that frustrated, but after hearing about 2 hours of bhangra music a sudden switch to hiphop will be a bit awkward for those that are pumped in the crowd. The non-indians that come, other than a select few, will get antsy waiting for the big artist to come and bigger problems will arise.
2. After having to pay a hefty sum, and having a bit of your time consumed by their needs because they are such a big artist you're not going to have as much money or time to spend on more important things...
plus you have to realize, if you have a bigger artist, you need better security as well so you have to pay for that. The bigger the name, the greater lengths people will go to to get backstage or find any way to meet the artist...
Rather than getting a big crowd, focus on having bigger prize money, reimburse teams that are coming far for travel and have amazing organization so you have big teams come and that in turn will attract the crowd that you're looking for...
