it was great for boogie woogie

but from a broader perspective, it was slow, boring, and large parts were derived from pretty big groups. Influence of Jabbawockeez is high, same with Phillipine All-stars. All the multiple-people-moving formations (and I mean every single one) I've seen before from famous groups.

But mad props for bringing it to a bigger audience, their synchronization and execution was great, just wish they would have brought something more energetic to indian audience

Why is it that India has stopped giving us things that we can be proud of?

In the last 30 years or so, we have gotten very few things that we can say is truly "Indian" and things that have been jacked by people from India and simply re-done by them. I use to be a huge Bollywood fan until I realized the extent of the lack of originality in Bollywood. And even in this video, the extent of "inspiration" they received from other groups is so large that you can hardly call them original.

And I was very surprised we didn't get to see anything from LBC in the routine.

I can post every Khalsa College Amrtisar/Lyallpur, PAU, and DAVIET video...from 2008. Thats just one year. If you want to know about the past 30 years, look up 1990s economic liberalization, 0% illiteracy rate (Kerala), outsourcing phenomenon, dhabbawala system of Mumbai, a female Prime Minister, a Muslim head of state for a Hindu majority nation, a plethora of amazing artists (Zakir Hussain, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Amjad Ali Khan, A.R. Rahman, Gurdas Mann, Surjit Bindrakhia, etc), i can go on and on

ps. this video wasnt that bad. last time i checked breakdancing was a style of dancing and doing a windmill or a flare does not constitue "jacking" someone else.

haha Varun, loving the desi pride. You forgot the 'largest democracy' and 'largest democratic election' in the history of the world.

Pretty sure Kinnell meant more along the lines of the arts (though you did mention artists), and our point was that they jacked a lot of the non-standard 'creative' things from other teams. I'm not talking about the freezes, flares, pops, etc I mean the oh lets all lean in one direction and then do a wave type things. Yes, it's something new to probably a large part of the audience, but that's not an excuse. That's like saying let's jack some LBC and show it to a bunch of white people in europe who have never seen bhangra.

So because some people in India listen to music from outside the country you are disappointed? Music is music..and some people connect with hip hop while others may connect with Bhangra and Bollywood. There is nothing wrong with that. I am a huge hip hop head and love bhangra too..and feel like I connect with both. There is nothing wrong with expressing yourself through dance if its popping/locking, breaking or whatever. No need to hate on these guys or cast dispersions on all of India based on this video.

In regards to their actual dancing, you have to realize India is not exactly a hip hop Mecca. These guys are probably a rarity and will obviously be stealing stuff from other popular crews until they develop their own style and until India has a wider hip hop following. Just like live teams here began with stealing stuff from Punjab teams and have slowly evolved to making their own routines, these crews will develop their own style over time.

I was just gonna say something similar...good to see such a different group in India...but I see a lot of Jabba, Phillipine Allstars, and some Korean team i once before in their routine...
