It would be great, but they would be giving up all three of their big men. They'll most likely go with Howard, and cp3 will end up in Oakland.

Howard will most probably land on the lakers since the bynum or gasol package would be the most attractive to orlando. And coming back to cp3, I doubt he is signing that contract extension when he gets traded. so when time comes for free agency, you know he is going to the knicks. Just keep in mind he made a toast at melos wedding for a trio in ny

if ur a lakers fan both are great but you sure as hell need cp3 over howard - gasol and bynum can do fine but on the perimeter cp3 can lift the team - esp b/c fisher is older than everyone in the nba and can  barely do crap anymore and steve blake is not very good.

BUT...i dont think cp3 wants to truly play anywhereee but the knicks so i see him not signing a contract extension with ANYONE and becoming a free agent and going to new york

Even if the Lakers get one of those two players they will be a better team. Dwight Howard would be a upgrade to Gasol or Bynum and CP3 would be a upgrade to Fisher

I'm feeling a 3 way trade if this were to every happen(once in a blue moon?)
Pau odom Bynum get shipped, Dwight, cp3, and a forward from either team(ariza/turkoglu). Salaries match fine, at 43MMish next year. And have Luke retire and amnesty meta world, that saves 12MM(potentially 30ish with lux tax) on the books.

Apparently cp3 wants the Knicks first and then lakers. He's not resigning with the warriors or clippers of he gets traded there.

I still like our core though. Just now looking forward to Bynum missing 5 games out of 66...

I dont think getting rid of Pau is a good idea. Bynum and Lamar for Dwight. Pau had a very terrible playoff run last year, that's for sure. But having a beast like Dwight on one side and a finesse offensive threat on the other, that will be big for LA. We need a point guard, but i think we might be able to get one out of a trade somewhere else.

Baron Davis would be a more realistic option for us and then trade for Dwight.

Derek Fisher has the heart to perform well for one maybe two more seasons. With Kobe handling the ball (remember there is no more triangle offence), the Lakers don't need another superstar on the perimeter. Also keep in mind that they have the defending 6th man of the year, Odom, on the bench. However, the big men need a boost. Having Howard down there will be reminiscent of the Shaq-Kobe era and Artest will start to post up more instead of having to float around & shoot nonsense threes. Fisher sees the floor great and can still play...he's like the Ryan Giggs (for you soccer fans) of the NBA. Look for the team to start out the season with the current roster but after a month or so, based on the performance of the team, they will make or not make necessary changes.

Having said that, would love to see either Superman or CP3 in a Lakers uniform but don't see it happening yet....CP3 at all to be honest.

Side note: What about trading a draft pick for Steve Nash IF something happens to Derek Fisher.

Another Side Note: I have 2 finals tomorrow, with the first one being in 7 hours. Why the hell am I on BTF  :-\

Dunno if we can take Nash's salary without giving anything up though. Fisher is inconsistent, that's the only issue. Some days he'll be there, some days he'll disappear. I'd prefer a point guard and then have Kobe play the post all game

We've lost our leverage for Dwight. I'm happy, but could have been happier.
