One of the panj payre was Bhai Himmat Singh ji who was named by Guru Gobind Singh ji stateing that my Sikh Kom will have the Himmat to stand up for themselves and the strength to fight back. And we do we have a bunch of losers that hold up posters and cry about kids calling them names. Obviously there always cultures that have people that don't fight back that's bound to happen but the way that the Sikh Coalition approachs the problem is way off and for that I'm not a supporter of this organization

I don't even know where to start with this, this is one of the most ridiculous things I've read. One of my professors is a director here and he is one of the most intelligent and remarkable men I've ever met. Where do you get off saying that 80% of them don't speak Punjabi and 95% of them don't know what it means to be Sikh? Where is this information coming from? (I'm not even going to touch the "loser pappe" comment because clearly you're beyond ignorant)

Have you even looked at any of the cases the Sikh Coalition has handled? Hate crimes, employment discrimination, etc. - they're fighting for the civil rights of Sikhs in a country where Sikhs are consistently discriminated against, especially in the post-9/11 world.

First of all like Dheerja pointed out earlier, you have NO idea how statistics work. 95% of them don't know what being a Sikh is about? Dude, its the complete opposite. I'd say that a majority of the people involved with the Sikh coalition are Amrit Dhaari Sikhs who are involved with this NON-PROFIT organization to help and support others.

I rarely EVER post on BTF, and I would especially ignore posting on a perfectly fine and noble thread being ruined by an idiot, BUT because the Sikh Coalition played a major role in helping my father defeat the NYPD enabling him to become the first Sikh man with a turban to serve on any United States police force, I feel obligated to address your ignorance.

 In a way no. There are many hindu punjabis so Correction I know alot of Sikhs that don't goto the Gurudawara.. And if your sikh it's written in the Guru Granth sahib that each and every Sikh is to devote at least 24hrs a month to a Gurudawara doing seva so yea kinda is a requirement
 

 What I was trying to poke fun at is the collapsing of "Punjabi" and "Sikh". You don't have to step foot into a Gurdwara to be Punjabi in the same way you don't have to step into a masjid, get darshan from an idol, or go to a Church to be Punjabi. There are Punjabi Muslims (Ahmadiyya/Sunni/Shia), Jains, Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, atheists, agnostics, people from tribal religions, etc. etc. etc. who shouldn't have to slot themselves into a religion to be considered properly Punjabi.
 
 Also, can you please link us to the line of Gurbani where it says you have to go to seva in a Gurdwara for 24 hours a month to be Sikhs? I've never heard of the rule.
 

 Yea well what I ment was sardars mostly ... But the 24hrs a month was told to me a person in India forgot the actual line itself but I'll be more than happy to find it. another thing It's not a rule that if you don't your not Sikh cause obviously your not going to get kicked out the religion itself. the true meaning behind the line was that a true Sikh does seva and takes out as much time for the Gurudawara that he can  the 24hrs a month is in there somewhere but I'll post the actual line when I get home.
