I heard some hype around this guy named Monty Harika a couple years ago... Heard hes pretty good and Washington Post wrote a pretty funny article about him: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2007/04/gw_kid_declares_for_draft.html

Also, Darshpreet Singh from Trinity College was captain or something in college.

Theres also this craaazy team that goes to tournaments in Texas. They all wear different colored patkas and have Singh on their jersey haha.

Haha, his father was also his coach, TJ started playing ball when he was around 6 and his father coached him up to the point his father passed away. TJ also has a brother Simon who plays ball just as good as him, both these brothers are insane and hopefully have a chance to get somewhere.

That kids been drinking his bournvita, his horlicks, and his ovaltime.

I bet his daddy is wilt chamberlain, who famously said on espn he averaged 1.5 women a day during his nba career(he worked this out mind you)

if there ever will be an India in the nba, there is no way in hell he'd be from India...i love India, but ppl in India dribble like their using their hand as a racket, and some still dribble with both hands lol...

im guessing the indian that makes the nba would probably be from Europe.

You know...thats nots entirely true.  Kyle Korver, Ronny Turiaf, and others started to go to India for camps, and although they arent Kobe or Lebron, its definitely nice to have NBA players and, more importantly, scouts, in India.  Sure they might dribble bad, shoot with a lack of fluidity, and might not have the equipment needed NOW, but more importantly, its a Start.  As much as sports is run badly in India(field hockey didnt go to the olympics...) you can imagine that sons of wealthy and affluent individuals will find ways to get to these camps.  Those camps are a start.  I dont think the first Indian in the NBA is going to be a Star, but rather a role player that everyone will connect too and be a symbol of "hope".  I think that out of the top twenty people in India, you would think that one or two of them would have the means, get into the camps, and probably would go to the States for school.  David Stern wants to expand Basketball internationally and already has made that big with China.  India is just as large.  Once some talented individuals from India emerge(someone whos got the personality as Yao) he is going to be all over India.  Its another market and a large one.  With coaching, i think India is actually a feasible place.

Heeray are down to ball in Toronto baby.....

I think the closest Indian to ever get to the NBA is/was Pasha Bains.  He played for Clemson back about 5 years or so ago....

We have a indian league in Cali that a lot of indians play in called C.I.B.  check out the website www.calibasketball.com  tournaments are usually held 5-6 times per year.  There are some talented indians in this league.  Check it out.
