Folkal Attraction @ Global Bhangra
« on: August 11, 2009, 09:08:48 PM »

A new team that definitely has potential. You guys have decemt coordination but it seems to come at a cost. Work on higher energy and your set will be much more entertaining! Watch the choreo too, you guys have some signature moves from other teams. (SGPD's saap leg cross..etc)

I agree with Kinnell, definitely need more energy, you have it in the beginning, but slow down near the end. The fella at dead center hit the wall at 7:26. But something positive i saw was, u guys seem very enthusiastic. I see these guys being game changers in the second half of the season. first half of the season though, energy will be the main key to work on. Routine was cool, good song selection, but the mix would probably be better if it was a little less hip hoppy. Overall, good job, its about effort, and FA showed that.

They have way better energy in this performance than GBC. They are good with few things to improve on. Good Luck!!

Hey guys, ur off to a very good and folk start overall - good luck in future! Lucky to have GBC as an opening venue being a new team and all. Rep Seattle!!

Rockstar/Bhagat Singh Intro - great coordination, seemed a little low on energy though. Although the moves are slow/graceful, u can spice it up with more energy by moving more shoulders and being more "bouncy" especially with legs! like when u travel with ur daangs from 00:50-00:51 u should totally kill it, don't just mosey along casually.

Morni - practice so that the dancers open saaps equally. overall cool segment! at like 2:10 space ur people out, kinda looks crowded but maybe that was a fault of stage size

Kaato - good song choice and sweet choreo - short and sweet - but u guys had great choreo here so maybe lenghten the kaato segment? it didnt bore me like many kato segments tend to do ;)

Jattan De Munde - intro of this song where u form 2 lines was sick, noth in concept and in execution! Rest of song - pretty solid jhummar, guys, WOO! Get lower and add more style for those "arms swinging at sides" moves though.

Main Nahi Nachna - cool choreo, this was flowing very well. Pretty messy though, work on the synchro here! solid segment though, for a song which most teams use for phumnia!

Jugni - for side taarhi watch the energy like at 5:04

Chardi Kala - the rotation with hands up in the air kinda kills the pace of the dance

6:44 - watch how much everyone rotates their bodies for kabootar chaal, and standardize that
Outro - keep up the energy here and it'll be alot more hard-hitting! one guy was doing pushups in the back right? bring him front so we can see his efforts! haha

great job guys i love your vardiyaan also - keep it up!

Im not directing this comment towards this video, but in general.  Just because a team doesn't go fast, doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with that.  You dance at a comfortable level that allows you to perform to the best of your abilities.  Sometimes people have to start of at a certain level because of their abilities or just because they prefer that style.  I know dancing fast is the "in" thing these days, but sometimes true grace and good form is lost in all that rush.  So do what you have to do.

+1

Overall, I'd say a pretty solid routine.  I liked the song selection, and I thought the pace was good for your team.  Sadly we couldnt see formations, but I'll get over it.

Just 2 things (aside from everything already said):
1) Opening song-dang segment.  This is going to be the segment that catches the audience's eye.  Don't be afraid to GO THERE.
2) "Ending song" before the mela and the outro... toooo fast.  So fast, that not everyone was able to keep up.  Some dancers had the energy, others fell short-and it showed.  Always remember that you're going to be on your lists bits of energy during the last song.  Push yourselves, but don't overdo it.
Swag is for boys.  Class is for men.

This is a new team bro...that was our old team..we put this team together a month b4 the comp as you can tell we have different style of dancing...we had so much going on like working on stamina learning the routine trying to adapt to each others style making up the set and so little time...we had about 8 or 9 practices all together and we did our best we could in that little time....Thank you everyone for the reviews! it helps a lot...overall it was a fun comp....besides waiting with pags on for 4-5 hours b4 we could perform totally killed it!!!

its not that hard mann... in the end, its all about execution.  for the teams that placed, we know they can execute better than these guys did in this vid.  FA did alotta good things, but not enough to grant them a placing.  sick performance, but you know they gotta be perfect to compete w babc, pcbca, and shan - e.  I'm not sayin judges will be biased towards these teams, but you and i know what they other teams are capable of.

Seemed like your guys' mix outdid your choreo. I remember someone mentioning on here that a mix should compliment your routine not supplement it

for example: on a part where the mix it hard and had lots of hype or even had a bass drop, you guys couldve used that to your advantage and got buck whether then going the graceful-simplier way

overall good performance for being your first competitive comp. You guys gotta bring something new to the table though if you want to excel!

A couple of things............

More energy. esp from one of the gys in the yellow/blue jodi
Synchronization of moves, try maybe practicing in front of mirrors, helps out a lotttt
another thing I noticed was that the fast ending didnt really suit u guys, you guys had the moves but could barely keep up with the mix.

not bashing, just constructive criticism.

i feel you on that one homie...just one thing u said i dun agree...being perfect to compete with babc pcba n shan-e?  i dun agree on that....no team out there is perfect.

Teams compete not to be perfect from the perspective of the audience, but perfection of the routine they have created.  No ones going to be perfect in everyones eyes, but you can aim for being perfect for how the team thinks the routine should be performed.

FA, you guys are going to be really good.  I like the energy at points, but there are times when it goes up and down at almost the same time(when you guys come out with saaps around 1:50) You keep your legs low, but then you realize the step after requires more effort and you start becoming very energetic.  Practice on taking segments a little at a time, watch yourselves, and get a good optimal energy throughout the various segments you choose to take.

Sometimes your execution is bad, and your posture is poor during the beginning of the jhoomer.  Keep the back straight when going down.  When individuals are cycling through jattan de munde, some go with more nakhre then others.  Make sure you focus on finding a way for every pair to look more alike to really kill the routine.

The style suits your dance, and you guys should really benefit from criticism and watching videos from here.  (btw phummania was sick), but make sure you look at things such as turning heads, where arms are, and how each other move to fix stuff.  I like the fact you guys want criticism, and I hope I gave you stuff to work on.  Good job guys.

yeah but you gotta be pretty close to perfect.  Every winning team at any competition now a days has close to if not perfect execution.  No missing of moves, completion of all moves, hit all formations, and solid energy.  All of that combined brings a near perfect dance.

The achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself.
