WASSAP BTF!! My brotha Vedant Chawla aka VC Beats, and I have been collabing and today, we dropped "The New Timers", a bhangra mixtape to showcase our styles and skills!
As the name suggests, we are fairly new to the bhangra mixing community so we'd love any feedback you could give us!
Hope...
WOW DJ1 and 3 using the same song XD
Firstly, comments:
DJ 1: Honestly, the use of Young Wild and Free was quite creative for both DJ 1 and 3, but the fact that it was EQ'ed a bit better in DJ 3's mix def gives them an edge. I think there were parts where the mix felt a bit drawn out and I was...
Wow... both of you guys outdid yourselves 0_0
Firstly, comments:
D1: PARTY IN THE USA IM DED!! I think cleanliness overall coulda been a bit of an issue here but the concept was nice. I liked that I could hear the original dhol/tabla from the mix. I think the drop was hurt a bit by your choice...
Imma go with DJ 3 cuz it sounded more like a saap segment. Can't say enough about the creativity in this mix. DJ 2 was too crowded in the lower range for my taste. Hype requires more than a strong trap beat!
I'm gonna go with DJ 2 for EQ and for sounding more like a saap segment and loved the "saap baliyeee" out of the blue - worked REALLY well! I have to say DJ 1 was also quite interesting but the beat made it sound more like a dhamaal segment. For saaps, you HAVE to make use of the off beats and...
Imma vote DJ 1. I loved the variation in tempo and the trap variations everywhere. DJ 2 also tried some interesting things, like that shift in key signature at the end, but the EQ was off and the original song could have shown through a lot more brightly imo. Both were solid segments tho!
I have to say I enjoyed DJ 2 more but it didn't really seem to be saap segments, as kman58 said. Nonetheless, simply because of the superior creativity and smoothness of the mix and the better EQ in my opinion I have to vote for DJ 2
Imma go with DJ 1. DJ 2 matched key signatures which DJ 1 seemed to pick some sus pitch shifts but the creativity def showed through more in the variations in DJ 1's mix. 2 was hella smooth tho!
DJ 2 the original song was definitely EQ'd a bit better in this one and the layering and creativity showed through a bit better in the second mix. 1 was still a great mix tho great stuff!
DJ 2 for me. Much cleaner mix with a beautiful crescendo. Woulda taken 1 but there was a bit much going on that didn't really add to the mix and the key signature was changed 3 times which is a lot for a mix this short. Nonetheless both were straight flames
I vote DJ 2 for the creativity
DJ 1: 0:37 coulda had a bigger drop I feel. Liked the boom bap vibe and the 808 distortion was very well done!
DJ 2: creative inclusion of nothing feels better and man im a sucker for that key signature (D minor I think?) haha well done!
DJ 1 for me!
DJ 1: vocals were def muffled and 0:49 I thought that pitching up an octave kinda messed up the riser. I would go with pitching down an octave for building tension or having a gradual high cut filter but the percussions and baseline were on point!
DJ 2: The glass breaking sound...
I'll have to go with DJ 1 because DJ 2 had a bit of dissonance in the background around 1:05 but good effort both of you guys! Really had to pull at hairs to decide this one
