I agree with the comment above. I wouldn't say it was a bad set or anything, but a lot of the stylistic shortcuts you can normally get away with in a music set were very apparent here

kali taali & lal taali are the same. kali taali is just lal taali with masala on it to make it darker. dhol quality depends more on the specific shell than the type of wood

it's bleached to make it easier to remove the hair from the skins. this makes the skin lighter & sometimes the skin becomes powdery. it makes a difference to the sound because the bleach makes the skin thinner & it's easier to break. thicker/heavier skin is also louder & has a deeper bass...

kali taali wood can be even lighter than that. the dark wood you see on ustads' dhols has masala all over it
