That’s “single” bhangra mixed with “double” bhangra.
Dha * nana gege na (single)
Dha * gena gena (double)
The starting thora/break is KIN * dha gena dha gena (with kin played hard & gena played really fast together)
I agree with the comment above. I wouldn't say it was a bad set or anything, but a lot of the stylistic shortcuts you can normally get away with in a music set were very apparent here
Why is it that, in every bhangra dance-off nowadays, all anyone ever does is some sort of crazy spinning bedi followed by single dhamaal—with overly exaggerated shoulders—for the first 10 seconds, then some crazy spinning bethkan while clapping between their legs for the next 2 minutes to prove...
You can use image trace, but like Sue Sylvester said, it is kind of overkill & not always accurate (depends on the image you're tracing).
I just recently started learning Illustrator at work, and I think it's much easier to draw in Illustrator than it is in Photoshop. I also think the main...

ajit singh

I didn't mean to say "actual ustads" in a snobbish or disrespectful way... but personally I've learned a bit in india from my mamaji & an ustad named jassi & in california from yadi sra (the captain of gabroo shokeen). I learned the "modern folk" (or whatever you wanna call it) way of live...
That's not a good deal for that dhol. If you want, I can find someone that would be willing to ship one to you. There are many ustads from India that are willing to ship quality dhols & supplies
I was just thinking about this the other day... back then bhangra dancers were highly influenced by actual bhangra ustads. now most of the dancers learn from youtube videos or from people who learned from youtube videos.
very few people have the opportunity to spend time with actual bhangra...
kali taali & lal taali are the same. kali taali is just lal taali with masala on it to make it darker.
dhol quality depends more on the specific shell than the type of wood
it's bleached to make it easier to remove the hair from the skins. this makes the skin lighter & sometimes the skin becomes powdery.
it makes a difference to the sound because the bleach makes the skin thinner & it's easier to break. thicker/heavier skin is also louder & has a deeper bass...

VTPD - no problem & thanks for letting me play for you guys--it was fun & you guys were really chill.
My main concern with the weekend was for the venue's tech team. During tech time, I could barely hear the music when I was playing dhol (soft), and the sound guy told me it was because they...
