haha you as well mera veere. Like your signature. Big mac dey shounk vaikhray kaddon buniyaa?

Harman, good to see a fellow SM reader. good stuff. The international opinion of Obama is obviously favourable, but I dont have to tell you how that doesnt nessecarily equate to what is good for those countries. The sikh coalition post was interesting too huh? SM is a great website, good to see a fellow reader.

-------

Varun and Harman let me get your opinion on this.

When we talk about obama vs. mccain, we are comparing two candidates. McCain is also very much pro the nucleur deal with india. India's nuclear deal in my opinion is the most empowering thing India has done on the world stage in a LONG time. IN fact, many people who I have talked to has seen india's entering into the nuclear stage as something empowering to the bullying that has been present by the superpowers in the world. That this deal is signifying a change in superpower. What do you guys think?

So this argument that Obama will support the nuclear deal, is something that suprisly because bush did it, McCain would follow.

The author was the one who asserted the higher foods prices which I buy. You ask how it will hurt indian farmers. It is inflation. That is the definition of inflation. I obviously dont have to explain to you why inflation hurts the rural community.

Also another fallout from inflation is that if price for world food stock increases, then with Obama's economic policies it becomes even worst for punjabi farmers. You'll see Obama depending more on local arigculture and continue his heavy tariffs and his calls for free trade, which will hurt India's farmers in the long run.

McCains economic policies are based on competition and the world market. Very similar to Bushes. Bush's government played a huge part in inflation, be it with world food price, or oil, etc... Competition in the world market is the best way to drive up revenue and the red's are all about that. But there is line between competition and inflation, and inflation is when it gets out of control.

Possibly the biggest move that led to the world food price crisis this year and alst was the fed reserve and how they decrease their interest rates. The internation prices for wheat, rice, meat and maize increased severely. Obama wants to provide subisides for the exchanging of maize, which will drive up its price. The demand will increase and the supply wont meet the demand, and there you go another problem.

But I hope Obama uses the Clinton tactics and provides international arigculture boards with power to veto bills from foreign nations that might led to inflation. Striking down that was a critical mistake by bush.

So is it interesting how Obama's and India relation will be? His economic policies are not as favourable as McCains however his desire (at what it seems like) to provide social and political reform that may led to the deacrease of the crisis and inflation seems like something that would be beneficial in the long run to India.

Overall, I think Obama may for the short term cut off the profits and ties to India and China and other economically prospering countries in efforts to secure his own, however, if he is able to stablize the international market, I think many indians and people all over the world would take that.

Ok, so I don't get how is someone supposed to measure the impact that it will have on India (specifically Punjab) when its just words. Like, will all these things Obama is saying will they go on into effect? I just think that the agricultural aspect is so confusing to understand (well it is for me) because there's so much that makes it up. Sure, the US relies heavily on other nations for agricultural goods and all, but then again I don't think we would just stop trading with countries and expect that their be an agricultural boom in our country. Like, the way its being worded here is like if this is what is said we will enact it to the extreme, which I dont think ever exists in any situation. When change comes, it doesn't hit all at once. Elements of what exist still remain and allow for one to adjust slowly.

Also, this:
"Obamain 07, voted AGAINST work visa for freign workers."
I don't see whats wrong with this. If you've noticed a lot of people come to the US on work visas, student visas, visa expires there still in the US, then we get this issue of immigration and our policies and a population explosion (ok thats extreme)-but you see where I'm headed right. So, i dont see what is wrong with voting against this.

Your right that it is just words, and we dont know for sure what will happen, and I mentioned that. But if their voting records and what they have promised is any indication which is not always the case, then you have to be concerned if you have any family or any sort of connection that will be affected by Obama's presdiency.

Obama would decrease trading in efforts to build up America's arigculture and I am positive of that. Its admirable if your an american looking out for american values and ideals, but its not beneficial when you have family who needs a wide open global market. It will stop inflation but mcCain seems to think that the global market should determine much of the demand.

We will see. I dont agree with the visa issue, thats a personal issue. I came to Canada on a visa, worked hard, and obtained citizenship and just because people abuse the system is not a good reason to not be for it. It gave me the possibility of coming here, just like our parents as well. If you dont see anything wrong with it, realize he is restricting how your parents came to this country. What your provided with, he is restrict others to.

1) i dont understand how the demand will be determined by a global market. There's way too many factors to include there again.

This isn't anything related to Obama entirely, but I think if he were to slowly move business away from India I dont think it would be a bad thing. I think right now India is stuck in this position where they are dependent on other countries for jobs. What countries should be focusing on is how they can provide for themselves and become less reliant on everyone. There's competition out there and they need to realize that, and in order to help out other countries, the US might do the whole trade because we pity the situation they are in and maybe if we trade we can benefit them thing. To me, it just seems as if India's stuck in this mentality of hey i'm being provided a job. I can get out of school, learn to speak english really well and get a job at a call center. Well, what about other jobs? Is there mentality going to rise above those other jobs? I think they need something to show them that hey you can't just rely on these jobs, these jobs may be taken away from you. Like sure, they've helped out, they've encouraged a new attitude among Indians, etc, but we need to take it away from them again, and show them ok see you can't have this forever now go try to be something better, because that call center job isnt gonna do. Like, if I ever talk to my cousins or a friend, they don't really have plans for what they want to do in the future. There's no big goals of becoming a doctor, a lawyer, etc, something big. The jobs they have are easily attainable and they want what is easy to get rather than having to work to get something better. And if Obama did shift business objectives away from them, then maybe it could help them. They have potential to be something, to discover something, there's so many people living in that country and there on their way to becoming a major country that will be and is right now well acknowledged. But they really need a push (or rather something taken away) to get them there.

And, for the whole immigration thing. Sure, its beneficial and helping out people. But I'm not a fan of immigration, even though I myself am an immigrant. The whole immigration process probably drains people more than anything. At times for people, I want to ask was it really worth you moving here? Like what's the point of someone in their late 40s moving to the US. That itself has its good and bad. But immigration, i'll end here
