Acid Question

Ive listened to a lot of mixes posted recently on btf, and for a lot of them i noticed how the dj puts an effect where the song goes from left to right, like for the ypa mix what they did on clear, fellas on the left was on the left speakers and so on... how do you do that?

it's called 'panning' what you want to do is right click the track, select "insert envelope" and click pan. A line (i think yellow?) will appear on the track. Adjusting this adjusts the channel levels.

thanks for the help Swi, i also have another question though... If you downloaded Sunlite's amplifier mix, listen to the effect he adds at 47 seconds, right after he says "Im a night rider", that ending effect... how do we go about doing that?

pretty simple, theres two components:

1) the cut effect (2 ways to do this):

a) if you have a long effect/vocal then just set up an envelope (this time do volume instead of pan). Have the effect play and just cut the volume out at the correct beats
OR
b) if the effect is too short then just copy paste the part you want repeated, at the beats you want it repeated

2) add a delay/reverb (in this case he used a delay). In acid it's one of the fx. You set up a delay fx with some decay time which is how long in between repeats and the decay sets up how much volume is retained each time it repeats. That is, a decay of 250ms with decay 30 will repeat every 250ms and lose 70% volume each time.


Just google some tutorials and mess aroudn the effect is not that hard to mimic, but it takes a while to get good enough to be clean

Man, I had no idea that the delay/reverb effect existed. I would always make my own echos by cutting part of the segment out and decreasing the volume of each one successively

ok guys here's how you do lower pitch:
1. In clip properties, change the "ACID type" of file from a 'one-shot' to a either a 'loop' or a 'beatmapped' type (i suggest beatmapped)
2a. in the stretch tab of clip properties, the 'root node' is defaulted to A so if you want deeper go A#, B,C etc.
OR
2b. In the general tab you'll see "Pitch Shift (semitones)"...put in something like -2 or -3 to go lower

for the echo, follow the instructions I gave earlier in the thread on adding the reverb effect.

and honestly, this day in age, EVERYTHING is available on google. literally, i was just trying to fix my car and if I took it to the dealership to fix it they would have charged 800 dollars but i fixed it with like 60 just b/c i googled it. You think googling random things won't produce anything, but EVERYTHING is out their b/c their has been atleast 1 person who has wondered the same thing (trust me i'm sure you guys aren't the first).

So to anyone who is learning how to use acid...JUST GOOGLE FIRST THEN ASK!...for reverbs just google "acid + reverb + how to" and you will get millions of hits.

just gets a little frustrating that everyday their is a new topic that is created called ACID QUESTION!
