back to the topic, apply even if you did get rejected the year before... new year, new committees...

i can say that it is better to ask why you did not get into a competition, for a few reasons
a) you get additional critique and a something to focus on when making a new routine or changing things
b) you begin to forge that working relationship with the organizers for next year

i know from orange that we did not get into bhangra masti, which we were upset about of course, but when i asked why, we got the response that we were not traditional enough, so that is one thing we focused on for the spring and beyond

If there was a specific reason, I would like to know. If there was just better teams, they wanted another local team, too many co-ed teams already in, etc. then they could just keep quiet. However if "you weren't traditional enough", "choreography was too simple" or something, then it'd be nice if the judges would tell you. Even one sentence or a few notes is helpful to a team hungry for improvement.
