Competing Bhangra Team with Kids?

what do you guys think...if a team brinks out kids on stage or their juniors team during their routine, should the kids be viewed as a gimmick or should they also be viewed as adults and judged accordingly

From what I have herd when teams bring juniors out on stage, the judges get the "awww" effect and its like brown points for the team...Not calling out or pointing at any team but simple addressing an overall concern

any thoughts?

It all kind of depends on how the team uses the kids in their performance. If the kids come out during a specific part of the performance and are made to stand out from the rest of the team with different costumes and stuff, then I think that it should be viewed as a gimmick, but if the team doesn't try to make them really stand out and they have the same vardiyaan as the whole team, then they should be viewed as regular performers along with the rest of the team.

good point abhishek. I think when teams bring a kid on stage, they are bringing him/her under their own discretion. In which case, I believe the kid should be judged as an adult dancer. In past performances we've seen the KJ kids, the Duniya kids, etc, who have dazzled audiences. They amazed me not just because of the fact that they are children, but because their skill level was one that matched those of dancers much older than them. When a team brings kids on stage even for a few minutes, they are bringing them on because they have confidence that the kids can perform as well (if not better) than the rest of the dancers on the team. Not just for brownie points. I think this would be a great rule to establish when the bhangra council is developed. Children should be judged as adults.

I agree with Meistro. If a team brings out a kid, the kid should be just as good as the other dancers.

Honestly, I'm sure that some of the PCAC junior kids can dance better than people on my team last year. lol ;D

If kids are brought out at a certain point, I see it as a gimick. If the kid performens the entire routine then they should be judged as an adult. If the kid is a good enough dancer then they should be dancing the entire routine. But if they are in it for a segment, then its just a gimick to try to gain extra points.

I believe bhangra idols has the rule that all people on stage should be 16 or older.

I agree with Vic on that one. I also think the gimmick is being overused a bit. It was awesome when KJ and Duniya did it, but too many teams are doing it nowadays. As Vic said, if the kid is a good enough dancer to be on the team, put him on the team for the whole performance.

I agree with Vic too. Most of the time it just looks like a gimmick to get the "cute factor" points, especially when they come out for 1 song then leave.
