sure..

Mutiyaar

Mutiyaar is a slang word in Panjabi that is used in mentioning a young vibrant woman! All Panjabi women have represented being beautiful Mutiyaars at one time in their life.

They described it better than i would have.

Hi All, the show is now confirmed and locked in for Saturday October 24th 2009 at 6pm. November is packed with Bhangra Shows.

As of right now the show is booked for Page Hall at Suny Albany.
Page Hall is a classic old proscenium theater located on the downtown campus of the University at Albany, at 135 Western Avenue. The auditorium has a total capacity of 830. 439 of those seats are located on the orchestra level and 391 and on the balcony level. Page Hall's excellent location, combined with its large seating capacity make it a favorite site for community events and performances. The film series of the New York State Writer's Institute is presented primarily at Page Hall. The stage area at Page Hall is 33' wide and 22' deep, including a very large (12' deep) semi-circular apron.

Please email desidhamakany@yahoo if you would like to be put on a waiting list. There is a waiting list currently with 7 teams.

Registration packets will be up shortly.

There will be a Formal Preshow Mixer for participants and and Afterparty.

Also we will be providing transportation to and from the show/hotel.

We are working on getting volunteers to help teams with their costumes,(ie Pagg Tier).

Teams will be able to meet Judges prior to and after the competition.

Teams will also have 30 minutes of STAGE TIME to practice on the day of the show.

Judges will be announced shortly.

We are very much looking forward hosting another great show and meeting with all the teams.

Thank You

Anil Prasad

I got say this...you guys are UNBELIEVEABLE...I have already recd over 30 request for the application. And none of the requests were from the 12 teams that participated in Desi Dhamaka. Its great to see that there are so many teams out there. I just want to say I would love to give all of you a chance and will. But please remember there are 14 spots(Not 12). And the show was started with giving those spots to the teams that applied to Desi Dhamaka. Some teams have accepted. Right now all 14 spots are taken. But as we get closer teams will drop out because of all the shows in the fall sometimes teams cant participate in all of them. So I will keeping a waiting list till Sept 30th. Any teams what that drop out I will surely offer to the waiting list. Thanks so much for the support and interest.

My input would be to have 10 teams, 1-2 local exhibition acts and have a running waiting list if teams drop out. 14 teams is way too much for the judges, audience and even team members who will have to wait until their turn comes. As a bhangra fan myself, I would think 14 teams is way too much in a show and also this raises the chances of poor judging (too much variance for the judges to compare).

Your registration packet is due latest by the end of July. I can assure you almost all collegiate teams will have revised rosters in the fall, however in your reg pack you ask the teams to submit the names of all the performers (and even props?).

Also, in your post...

As a competition organizer myself, I know that every competition is a team effort. If I were you, I would stop using the words "I will give you a chance" and start using "we will give you a chance" to acknowledge other members of your team and organizing committee.

Just my 2 cents.
