Hey! Just a curious bhangra dancer here. I was looking at some performances and keep seeing people standing in the front of the stage, doing one step (or a few) consistently with some kind of prop/instrument in hand. I was wondering what that was if anyone could explain?

Video for reference - (dude in the bottom left corner)

Basically the chimta player, usually dances to the side (analogous to a dholi).

For my team the chimta player is usually a backup dancer in case one person from our team is not able to compete for an upcoming competition.
