How do you tighten saaps??

I Need help, can someone please tell me how to tighten a saap

take out the rivets or screws and replace them with socket head cap screws

use washers with the screws and nuts
for nuts use nylon insert hex nuts

tighten as much as you want, these nuts will never loosen or fall off.

the screws/rivets most saps come with are cheap, low quality, and usually undersized you're better off replacing them with something better

also just be careful, I know for a lot of older saaps, overtightening had caused the thread on the screws to sand away the wood. So the holes for the screws became too big and tightening couldn't really fix that (you endup pseudo-clamping the wood together with tight screw/bolt to compensate...)

thats why you use a sleeve(plastic or aluminum) between the screw and the hole in the material ;-) creates a bearing surface and protects the hole from the thread, mechanical engineering kiddies

lol we'll see, i wasn't planning on sharing any information until after UBC but this topic came up and i thought i'd provide an answer. i'll put up more details about my saaps after UBC. it's not really easy to make a sap if you've never worked with wood, plastic, or metal before. i was able to make 13 for my team because i have an engineering and machining background and know how to work with tools but it was still a looooong process making all of them, i actually just got done a couple of hours ago. making saaps isn't fun...at all, its a pain in the ass, there's no quick and easy way to do it. i did have help from my team mates (sabi, varun, armaan) even with help it still took forever. i can't really make a simple video for everyone to follow since it isn't a simple process.
