I have made a dj mix on ableton and need help on how to master

Well for starters, distortion is due to volume being too loud. Listen to it and figure out what is clipping (usually bass from clashing). lower the volume overall of everything and the distortion should go away. Once your volume is lower, go into the master equalizer and increase the bass to your liking. Get to a point where it peaks, then back off by about a decibel or two.

thank you very much for the reply... so i lower the over all volume, and not the individual clips volume right? and how can i the volume of my mix maximized with out distortion? & i also have a limiter placed into the master audio effects should i keep that in there?
the limiter that i have placed in there is basically keeping all of the sounds from peeking and if i take it out the master mix peaks big time eventhough...i have all the volumes for most clips around 0.0 decibels which is probably too much but the limiter is basically keeping the decibles from peeking i guess.

There is no cookie cutter method of mastering. Its all about trail and error. And what sounds right to you.
One person say its master perfectly, but you might hate the way its mastered.
Just google the basic of EQing, compressing etc etc.
And then just keep at it till you like the way the final product sounds.

Well the limiter you have just crushes the signal down to 0.0db to keep it in check. In reality it kills the quality and dynamic.
Ideally, you want to mix without a limiter because it does exactly that... it limits...
The thing you should spend some time to learn is compression. Specifically, multi-band/dynamic range compression.

you haven't even given us any audio to listen to, what do you honestly expect from us?
Give us your master version and the non-limited version so we can listen and compare.
A limiter will indiscriminately compress your mix, make sure you understand what that means. EQ is basically all about balance, make sure to balance the volumes and frequencies WITHOUT the limiter. Then you can add a limiter and subtly push the mix a bit just before you hear distortion. That's the cookie-cutter simple way to do it.
Overall mastering will involve a bit more effort and attention to some subtle things but it's not THAT important for a bhangra remix if you're using decent samples/songs to start with. Just get everything balanced, then add the limiter and push till just before it distorts
