okay so I had my ipod in my bag and I had a bottle of water in there also (water was frozen) so I guess bc due to the melting of the ice the water that precipitated on the bottle got in/on my ipod. Along with it my battery died also, so it just started working today but now the problem is when I go on a play-list (lets say bhangra for example) and click on a song it doesn't play and just takes me back to the play-list.

help =(

[edit]

The volume slider thing doesn't work either.. and ipod is like just randomly trying to play songs.. like if I try to play 'vanjara' it'll go to the play screen and then back to the playlist.. then go back to the play screen and back to the playlist.

EDIT: IMPORTANT: FIRST, JUST TURN THE THING OFF AND STICK IT IN THE RICE. i forgot to say that if you try any of this other stuff first it's going to just screw up the probably water-logged circuits even more.

i am going to try my best to help you because you are the awesomest bhangra ninja ever.

first off, what kind of iPod do you have, and what generation? e.g. iPod touch, 4th generation, etc.

so, as far as water on electronics goes, apparently burying the thing in uncooked rice helps suck out the water. that can help a bit with the problem, as water on electronics ruins the thing by causing short-circuits. http://www.tech-faq.com/how-to-repair-a-wet-ipod.html <- that's a link on what to do with the wetness. it says to take apart your ipod, but depending on what generation and model you have, that's not always the best idea. opening it voids the warranty. try as much as you can from now on to not use the iPod, as sending electricity through the water-logged circuits is what fries the chip. just dunk the whole thing, intact, into a fat bowl of rice and completely cover it on both the bottom and top. uncooked rice can (hopefully) be found in every indian household.

if you have your entire music collection on your computer and/or don't mind losing a few songs, hard restore your iPod. connect it to the computer and in iTunes, select the option to "restore to factory settings." any bugs with the software will be resolved by just basically rebooting the whole thing. however, a restore does erase all files on the iPod so that's more of a last-ditch effort. before you do that, you can try a hard reset on the device itself. for iPod touches, hold the home and hold buttons down together for at least three seconds, or until you see the screen reset. this often works to resolve minor problems, and it might work for you.

lemme know how these tips worked!

<3 at the 'awesomest bhangra ninja' part

And yeah I tried the restore thing but it didn't avail. I left my ipod at my bffs house, so I told her to put it in rice for me and see how that works out. & it's an i pod touch 2G (I believe; well that's what came up when I backed up all my music via copytrans). Thanks for the help & I'll let you know how it works out.

hopefully I can save it from the mouth of death :\

ahaha you're welcome.
alright; i hope it works for you! in the future, if you do happen to get a handheld device wet, immediately turn it off to reduce the damage. i think you might have kinda screwed it over a bit more by trying to use it after it got wet (although i wouldn't blame you, i'd wanna check if it was working too).
if it ends up being broken, you can find pretty cheap used iPods on Amazon.
