Just read the articles...pretty sad to see Taliban making inroads in the rurals areas of Pakistan Punjab. The militants, the madrasas, the poverty, the weak government, the allure of black money....all these are leading to the destruction of West Punjab and Pakistan. If this continues, Punjabi culture, Pakistani statehood, and the security of India will be terribly altered.

Anyone from Multan here? One of my friends recently visited and he told me that the madrassas there are harassing the local population and giving out literature against the worship of Sufi saints and what not. He told me that any city in Punjab he went to there were newly funded (mostly from Saudia Arabia) madrassas.

too bad stuff goes on like that in India too. SGPC and Hindu organizations have started creating their own brand new gurudwaras and mandirs in pinds where there used to be decades old shrines that exemplified interfaith (as they were dedicated to the Gurus, Baba Balaknath, Sufi Pirs, and such)
