My momma was born in Nairobi and raised there until she went to London for University. My mom's side speaks some Swahili...but its not as much as they used to know.

My Dad was raised in Zambia...I have uncles and ALOT of family in Zambia and Zimbabwe but none anymore in Kenya. Everyone moved out of there.

Yeah man I see it a lot. African's loveee Indian stuff (huge generalization). I think the most fascinating origination of a race is the West Indies and the Carribean. Blood lines are mixed so that a lot of who are from Trinidad or Haiti or any other nation there have Indian ancestors. Some of the foods that they eat are very Indian too (Curries, Roti's).

That was a beautiful video.

I know there is a high sikh population in Kenya too, my friend went to Kenya and visited a Gurdwara there, must be an AWESOME experience.

Many reasons why I think that video is beautiful, just because I have been interested in Indians in Africa, and had to study the migration patterns in undergrad, and ran into it in grad school a lot as well. Nikhil, correct me if I am wrong, but there was a huge history of discriminatory practices by blacks put onto Indians, mainly in the buisness and educational fronts.

I think it was Daniel Moi who changed the relations there, and made sure of equality. So that video signifies alot, almost a changing of a tide.

Summy there are discriminatory practices however Indians are at fault just as much. There are definitely racial tensions, and with African leaders like Mugabe (who should be tried for crimes against humanity for the last 20 years), things are getting worse.

My family owns several factories in Africa and Indians in general enjoy a very high position (textile ownership) over the local Africans. Many Indians are corrupt and they run their businesses without regard for ethics. Africans have resorted to racial crimes against Indians, and the main reason is because Indians have neglected African's completely, in aspects of humanity, economically and socially. As noted in the other thread, there are many Indians who in the past were racist against the natives, and it is still the case today. Africans are becoming very hostile for the lack of opportunity, and rightfully so, but the violence is getting worse. With the collapse of many countries, Indian owned businesses will indefinitely feel the wrath of governments looking to give back to the Natives. It makes me very sad to see this beautiful continent fail to develop because of a combination of a lack of technology and ethical, humane moral leaders!! Indians AND Africans are at fault for what has happened. When I visited Africa in 2001, Zambia was said to be developing but their metropolis Harare was hardly functioning. Zimbabwe was in a State of Emergency and was headed downhill at that time. South Africa was the only bright spot for many people in the southern hemisphere of Africa, and many Indians claimed that it was like America. Now crime is infecting their country just like the others, paralleling the destruction via Aids/HIV.

This video still gives me hope though.
