Let's keep in mind the kind of budgets punjabi movies have compared to Hollywood ones
bad acting doesnt cost more money...bad stories dont cost money...I can keep going on and on and it wouldnt cost more money...
Well I don't know wats wrong with any of the stories. Every single punjabi movie connects you to the roots. Example: Sukhmani (Real Life Story), Hawayein (Reality), Heer Ranjha (Part of the culture), and the list goes one. And yea all the special effects, quality story line and quality acting costs money. Atleast these people still keep making movies even after they loose money to do some thing for their Virsa, their culture. Take for example all of the Harbhajan Mann, Babbu Mann and Gurdas Mann movies are usually home productions ... as the audience increases watching, they will get better. Like Jimmy Shergill was talking in one of his interviews ... the worst Hindi movie makes arnd 7-8 crore rupee in Punjab but even the best punjabi movie only does 2-3 crore ... its just sad. Lack of awareness and respect for the ma boli.
I have the upmost respect for anyone trying to promote the culture and our "maa boli" but as far as movies go, you HAVE to do something different to keep the same people's attention. I simply cannot watch 10 different movies about an NRI family with india issues and expect to love each one. The first two, ok great! a movie that relates to me! .........third, fourth....etc....ummm I JUST saw this earlier, with the same people, (harbhajan maan, raj babbar, Kanwaljeet, and a few others).
On the same note, I quite enjoyed Yaaraan naal baharan because it was a refreshing change of pace. Different setting and totally different story. And that also had a great message.
Agree with you but then again think about it, the reason there are so many NRI movies is because more then half the punjab is outside Punjab. And yet they all had different message
Jee Ayan Nu = If the girl is Canadian then the guys doesn't necessarily has to move to Canada.
Asan Nu Maan Watna Da = Even when people make a fortune outside Punjab and wanna move back, they can't because of the facts explained in the movie
Dil Apna Punjabi = How Unemployment has led punjabi' to go to foreign countries to make money
Mitti Wajan Mardi = How one person in the family "Mama" ruines the life of many.
Mera Pind-My Home = Why seek employment in a foreign country when u can still progress in your own
Jag Jeondeyan De Mele = About racism and Ego still existing among the sikhs.
Heer Ranjha = one of the four popular romances of Punjab
Overall, atleast he's trying bro. He was gonna start his own company for his music but he stick with T-Series cause of this. He's not making any money off any of these movies and yet it has not stopped him. Due to him other new producers has stepped up as well ... I think all credit goes to Harbhajan Mann for bringing back the Punjabi Movies.
