This is intense... I would never try being gay in India... I can pretty much gaurentee that you'll end up dead if you do it in the villages where my parents are from... Shits a little intense out there... At the sametime, the only reason Raj was marrying Bajit was because Bajit was supposed to get both of them abroad, but when Raj found out that Bajit was cheating on her and didnt really have the contacts to move them outside of India, she all of a sudden "decided to re-evaluate" her life and didnt wanna be with Bajit... what kinda wack ass shit is that? That aint love, thats just straight bullshit.. Happens a lot in India, which is sad is hell...

On the bright side, they threw in some Enigma at the 2:30 mark, that was interesing...

Vick's rants are the funniest thing on this site by far... haha.

First off all... 15 days? Good for you Baljit.

Secondly, what did Baljit expect when she took her case to court, that people were going to change centuries of prejudice thinking? It will be interesting to see how India will deal with same sex relations moving forward. THe economy doing well, the culture being adopted in the world, India's social side is being pushed to the lime light... I wonder how the nation and the courts will handle same sex marriages moving forward, especially as it will gain more attention world wide. Can they break century plus old notions to move towards progressive thinking or is it engarined in the culture way too much... I thinkits the latter but I also think strides can be made.

This cutting the wrist shit has to stop. Every idiot does that in India, its beginning to get like a trend.

I feel really bad for Baljit, poor thing. I for one am for same sex marriage. This Raj girl was def into it to get to Canada, and it's sad to see how often this happens in our society. Marriage is no longer something holy between two souls but rather a VISA for many. Effin pathetic. And as far as slitting the wrist..it doesnt happen just in India, it's a "trend" in the Desi community. I'm really amazed that they were allowed to get married at the Vaishno Mata mandir

i am against same sex marriage....call it being narrow minded but i don't want my daughter or son coming home to me saying they are gay
American culture allows same sex because they don't have to worrie about the same things as desis or have the same values as desis...

Abhi, heres a newsflash buddy... Your in America. Your not living in India. Your of Indian decent, you dont deal with the same things or have the same worries as indian do.

I like you Abhi, but I cant for a minute begin to understand how you think on this subject. Why do kids in the west (not you) think that just because their parents are from india, and they speak a horrible diluted insulting version of the language and then have some minor sassoicatoin with a dance think that they are desi's in a western land. Your kids, unless our planning to move to India and change your whole lifestyle, are going to be raised here.

Sorry to break it to you, your american before your indian. As much as youth today want to disassoicate themselves from the majority, you guys are american. You live american ideals more than indian, you have american mindsets, you have american ways of life.

Dont act like because your of the indian diaspora that your life is heavily swayed by the ongoings of the indian way of life and morality... NO, stop kidding yourselves.

Your american, your kids will be american. They wont be raised in an environment like we were with our parents and uncles/aunts speaking another language and following another lifestyle. Their parents will be american and they will abide by american lifestyles and perceptions just like you do.

If you dont support same sex marriage on the basis that in desi culture there are other elements to be concerned about... dont worry, you wont have to deal with those elements, and neither will you kids.

I was actually born in Punjab and came here when I was little....just because I live in America doesn't mean i am westernized.....that makes no sense...i grew up on the same principles as my dad was raised....my dad is the least westernized parent i think i have ever met in my life...in fact he hates American culture and wants me to have nothing to do with it...he wants to move back to Punjab when he retires...it doesn't matter what land i was raised it as much as the principles i was raised with....I am not going to put my shit out there but trust me you don't know anything about my family or my childhood to sit here and point fingers and tell me i am westernized....I am not saying i am pindu and i am not saying i am westernized...I don't know what category i fit because i seem to switch the way i think depending how what issue we are discussing, hence i don't fit you regular western category.....call it my dads influence or whatever...

I don't see how you can sit here and tell me what my kids are going to be like since i am the one that's going to raise them...you are a smart person but you have this mentality that everyone born or raising in America is westernized.....you need to stop fitting everyone in the same category...not everyone is the same...It is a very stupid and unintelligent mistake to label someone and then act upon that label and tell them what they are....i wouldn't expect a open minded person like you to say something like this...very disappointing...i am not blind to the fact that my kids are going to be more westernized than me and as generations go down the culture will be lost.....however i will do my best to preserve my culture as much as possible....thats my life my choice and my family please refrain from telling me about my person life and predicting it for me....

so back to real issue and not how i think i am Punjabi.....The only problem i have with gay marriage is i don't want my kids thinking its ok to experiment and see if i like kissing a girl or a guy...like Americans think its ok to experiment and sleep around, and parents are ok with it as long as they use a condom..i don't want to hear about my daughter sleeping around because she thinks its ok to experiment...as far as comparing India and America....If a Punjabi child was gay in Boston, where i live....there would be chitchat and people would talk, people will look down at you....we don't have a huge population like Cali, Vancouver, or Toronto, but we do get a lot of Punjabi family that are continually moving to Boston from Punjab til day....so end result they bring a little bit of there Punjabi mindset that does effect the other Punjabi here....That is where i am coming from and i hope that clears things up...
