Voting closes on Thursday, June 4th at 11:59 pm EST. Remember that voting is only open to valid BTF accounts. Newly made accounts will be monitored for possible foul play.

ATTENTION MIXERS:
As a reminder, if mixers vote on every OTHER matchup (BOTH BRACKETS) for this week, they will have 2 votes added to their own matchup’s tally in their favor! DO NOT VOTE IN YOUR OWN MATCHUP!

The theme of the matchup was creating Saap Segments with old school songs.
Both DJs were assigned the song Jat Surme - Jazzy B, linked below:

DJ 1 for me! the song is out of tune with the first half of the mix!! DJ 2 just lacked the layering that DJ 1 had but still a hella fire mix

DJ1 had the more sapp segment-y feel with the progressive drum patterns and emphasis on dhol. However, the entire mix was out of key in one way or another, and distinctly lacked musicality. DJ2's mix on the other hand, much more musically creative but did not feel like a sapp segment to me. I enjoyed listening to this mix more but I could not really imagine dancing to it because of how much variation was there.

Reluctantly, I choose DJ1

Pretty much echo what kman said - DJ 1 sounded more like what I'd expect from a sapp segment but with clashing/out of key elements. DJ 2 had a strange structure for a sapp segment but was more cohesive sonically. Tough one but I guess I have to vote for DJ 2

DJ 1: This was such a blue ball of a mix. I was so hyped after hearing that intro but jazzy b's voice was like 2 semitones too low for the instrumental. Also it kept on building up over and over again but didnt really lead anywhere other than a standard drop. Definitely accomplished the saap segment feel though.

DJ 2: Difference did not work behind this song imo and introducing it in kinda killed it for me. The final drop was also kinda weird.

My vote: DJ 1

DJ 1: Hype!- vocals are kinda buried during intro and I think the Punjabi vocals are slightly off key. The hit didn’t feel like it got any wider than the build up because there was already so much going on pre-hit. Really hype concept and it hit hard - felt like you used the most mainstream hype samples from the last 2-3 years, but ef it they always hit lol

DJ 2: little more musicality in this mix, but there was a little less impact in this one. The vocals of both Amrit Maan and Jazzy B were pretty buried. Interesting beat patterns haha I was expecting the hit like 3 times only for different buildups.

Vote: Hard one, but DJ 1

My vote: DJ 1

As others mentioned, it's definitely evident that DJ 1's mix was off key. The mix felt more like a typical saap segment to mix.

DJ 2 just threw a bunch of stuff in there. I liked certain aspect like your intro/buildup and the panning effect with the sample at 0:33-0:35ish, but overall I didn't think was executed in the best manner. I wasn't feeling the drop toward the end of your mix at all.
