Below are the mixes for Bracket B - Matchup 1 in the mixing ladder! Please vote for your favorite mix below. Feedback is also welcome, and encouraged!

Voting closes on Thursday, June 4th at 11:59 pm EST. Remember that voting is only open to valid BTF accounts. Newly made accounts will be monitored for possible foul play.

ATTENTION MIXERS:
As a reminder, if mixers vote on every OTHER matchup (BOTH BRACKETS) for this week, they will have 2 votes added to their own matchup’s tally in their favor! DO NOT VOTE IN YOUR OWN MATCHUP!

The theme of the matchup was creating Saap Segments with old school songs.

Both DJs were assigned the song Daang Jatt Di Khahakdi, linked below:

Imma go with DJ 1. DJ 2 matched key signatures which DJ 1 seemed to pick some sus pitch shifts but the creativity def showed through more in the variations in DJ 1's mix. 2 was hella smooth tho!

DJ1 had cleaner mixing of percussion and bassline, and felt more to me like a sapp segment. However, the pitch-shifting was definitely weird and didn't indicate any musicality to me. Also, the kick patterns towards the end (especially on the slow drop) were really monotonous and did not lend themselves to being choreographed well.
DJ2 much better from a musicality standpoint as well as clarity of vocals, but you could've still shaved off some of those upper frequencies in your EQ to make everything less shrill. I would've voted for this mix in a heart-beat if that drop on the chorus had more substance to it, but the drumline just fell flat (I imagine due to overcompression of your kick and dhol) and there wasn't a new instrumental melody introduced there to spice it up.

I vote for DJ1.

DJ 1: Full sound but no pitch control. Numb didn't do much for me cause it had nothing to do with the rest of the mix. Was kind of all over the place, but still had direction to it.

DJ 2: Percussion fell pretty flat, in the future this dj should work on maintaining a fuller sound so that all the layers compliment each other rather than feel like separate pieces. The drum line in particular should have been much more substantial than what it was which is what made it sound less impactful.

My vote: DJ 1

DJ 1: hype, but nothing really unique about this mix. Felt like just kicks, snares + song, nothing really musical about this

DJ 2: way more interesting, but didn’t have the same impact as DJ 1. Would’ve voted for 2 if there was a better drop.

DJ 2 was definitely creative, but I your bass should have been hitting deeper. I liked your intro, but the rest of the mix wasn't anything too impressive. The tempo shift after 0:29 was nice, but I wish you brought the mix back to the faster pace after introducing that. I also just feel DJ 1 felt more like a saap segment teams in the circuit would dance too. DJ 1 also had a great ending/outro.
