Below are the mixes for Bracket B - Matchup 4 in the mixing ladder! Please vote for your favorite mix below. Feedback is also welcome, and encouraged!

Voting closes on Thursday, June 4th at 11:59 pm EST. Remember that voting is only open to valid BTF accounts. Newly made accounts will be monitored for possible foul play.

ATTENTION MIXERS:
As a reminder, if mixers vote on every OTHER matchup (BOTH BRACKETS) for this week, they will have 2 votes added to their own matchup’s tally in their favor! DO NOT VOTE IN YOUR OWN MATCHUP!

The theme of the matchup was creating Saap Segments with old school songs.

Both DJs were assigned the song Sohniya de Laare - Manmohan Waris, linked below:

DJ1, the kick and snare pattern were hot, and I loved how heavy that kick was punching. The dhol coming in 12 seconds in was fire too, and I really liked your panning of the hi-hats. However, you lost me on the change to Jazzy B. If it were in key with Sohniya De Laare that would've helped tie the tracks together a bit better. It felt like 2 different DJs had mixed these segments and someone just put a lazy transition between them with no thought to musical flow.
DJ2, beautiful and creative mix. If this were any other week without a theme of "sapp segment", then you win hands down. Clean mixing with good ideas. However, there was no solid dhol beat anywhere throughout this mix. I tried really hard to choreo to this in my head and imagine myself/my team dancing to this, but it just wasn't happening. At best, maybe a phumaniya segment or even a dope kato segment given the beat progression of the second half of your mix when 5 goliyan came in.

My vote, reluctantly, is for DJ1 out of respect to the theme for this week.

I have to say I enjoyed DJ 2 more but it didn't really seem to be saap segments, as kman58 said. Nonetheless, simply because of the superior creativity and smoothness of the mix and the better EQ in my opinion I have to vote for DJ 2

DJ 1: Clean and unoffensive. The buildup sounded kind of weird but the drop still hit. The second jazzy b song sounded kinda out of place cause it's not the same key/scale as the manmohan waris track. Instrumental in the background did fit well as a whole.

DJ 2: Had the right idea with the mashup but was all over the place in terms of pitch/key. The sarangi for example didn't really fit behind a lot of the songs cause it was much more minor key sounding than everything around it.

My vote: DJ 1

DJ 1: I enjoyed when the bass and the dhol hit, but for me the rest of the mix was a little too straight forward ie the drop didn't add to the energy. As others have said, the change of song wasn't well executed. Panned hi hats were nice

DJ 2: For the number of different songs you used it sounded pretty good, but it definitely wasn't a saap segment with yummy kicking it off. Was probably the better mix but didn't hit the theme.

My vote: DJ 1

My vote: DJ 1 - as other mentioned, this just fit the saap segment theme better than DJ 2's mix.

DJ 1: head bobber haha I like the intro a lot. Was there a pitch shift at :22? That felt super dissonant. Oo you lost me at :31. Shifted keys and the quality of the mix declined heavily IMO.

DJ 2: Awesome concept. Love how the songs tie together. I think this would make a very fun/interesting unique Saap segment to choreo haha I think I would have fun making this. Does it fit a typical Saap vibe? Prolly not but who cares lol people can have different sounding Saap segments.

Vote: DJ 2- SAAP SEGMENTS CAN COME IN DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES!!!!! lol
