Which competitions are worth applying to?

Bhangra Masti, Toronto (Jan.)
Virsa Punjab Da, NC (Feb.)
VIBC, Vancouver (Feb.)
Bhangra Blowout (Feb?)
AVAP, VA (March?)
Bhangra Fusion (March?)
New competition in Toronto (April)
Bruin Bhangra, Los Angeles (May)
(add to the list plz!)

any other info, i.e. which ones have the most prize money, type of stage, type of show (family vs. student), type of competition (traditional vs. modern), organization (being on time, treatment of teams), could be useful. hope this will be helpful to all teams

Re: LIST OF SPRING SEMESTER COMPETITIONS

Masti (Toronto): Good organization & great judges who are very knowledgeable and will offer you advice and honest opinions on what to change/fix. The competition was split into Live/Modern and had some very good teams last year. It was def. a lot of fun and the atmosphere of the show was good. It seemed to be a little more family oriented rather than collegiate, but I do not think you would be disappointed in them in any way, whether you are live or modern.

AVAP (Virginia): Again, they had good organization for the most part and also good judges. The audience was not too big last year because the venue was not very impressive in terms of size & overall appearance. But the people involved were pretty chill and delivered on most everything. Only problems most teams had was the inability to get into the afterparty and not getting rides that were promised at times. The competition was split into live/modern and the show had a traditional lean on it, which was nice. Other than that, can't really complain.

Fusion (Detroit): More geared to college students. Definitely a modern competition. Previous year's judges (didn't go last year) were not at all qualified and did not provide any feedback to the teams. Venue is amazing and the crowd is always great.
