I have been dying to see Arminder Gill at a competition. With his new album out, it should be a good time to get him.

If you're looking to bring people in from abroad, I would go for: Pammi Bai, Nirmal Sidhu, or Angrez Ali.

Hope that helps,

~ Basim :)

malkit singh is a fail. The guy came to Socal 2008 and VIBC 2008....he sucks. I didn't enjoy his performances at all.

Amrinder Gill or Surjit Khan would be money. Also, could we get shokeen, HPD, RPD, and DAV Jalandhar at one time so I could personally fly/skeet at this competition?

On some more serious notes:
1. Release Judges beforehand
2. Release Judging Criteria beforehand
3. Maybe have a teams only afterparty(mixing afterparties tend to get out of hand).
4. GET HARJOT HUNDAL

Raju Dholi + Lal Singh Bhatti freestyle dhol and boliyaan. its easy, realistically can happen, cost effective and who better than two living legends. If you need help contacting Lal Singh Bhatti and asking him to do it...let me know, would love to help.

Though this thread's main purpose is to help aide in the selection of a guest performer, let me take out a moment to say this...

I, Harjot Singh Hundal; along with GTV equipment, am 100% confirmed to be @ Pioneer Bhangra 2010. Goal this year being to capture team mixer and backstage elements as well... Anyone interested in helping me please let me know... Only requirements would be a nice voice, general knowledge of Bhangra, and the ability to hold a camera steady by hand...

I Thank the Pioneer Bhangra committee sincerely for this opportunity, and hope everyone else here sends the appropriate praise to them as well...

P.S. No preliminary plans on live streaming just yet, that is yet to be discussed and decided with PB members...

Which teams would you like to see?

Which artist would you like to see? (Dont say Gurdaas Mann and the likes as We cant get them unless all of us sell our kidneys)

Any other recommendations from the BTF bhangraholics?

Pioneer Bhangra would be announcing the Team line up this friday I think. (Can't wait)
Just to point out it does ask for any recommendations or teams we would like to see, though it seems this discussion has been geared towards what artist should perform.

Note: Harjot you being there is amazing news.

Thank You for pointing that out, Brother... I had skimmed through the thread and assumed it was in regards to an artist. I am excited to be there ;D

Thank you so much for some wonderful suggestions :)

Baljit Malwa was our initial choice but is not available on the date. (sucks)

I would like to clarify that even though the live teams took all the placings at last year's competition it would be wrong to stamp PB as a traditional comp.
We will be trying to keep it neutral by getting equal number of traditional and modern judges and making the judging criteria very balanced as well. This would be specially important because we will be having some of the best live and modern teams competing against each other in January. We would like to give an equal opportunity to the teams performing two different styles of bhangra.

Thanks again and we are loving your best wishes and suggestions!

how will this work? modern judges will favor modern teams, traditional judges will favor traditional teams... you can't really, honestly, judge the 2 categories given the same criteria...
