You shouldnt need to slice the tracks. Use audio clip warping (like ableton does).
Meaning you manually align beats to a bars within the clip/sample/track instead of affecting the whole project tempo. Then set that warped clip as master tempo, so it controls tempo whole project.

Reason is great to create beats and such, but you really would want to move to a DAW that has more fluid work flow like ACID, Ableton, FL, etc
