Aright finally had some time to write up (what seems like) the only review of the comp so far:
Teams:
Music
KPGD: By far my favorite team of the entire night. They were clean, very creative and all their dancers have improved IMMENSELY. I thought they had a chance at Second but FOR SURE had 3rd place locked in. They SHOULD have placed.
GMU: Started off really well but lost it through the performance a bit. Weren't as clean as the other teams but good to see a collegic team represent. Had an AWESOME gimmick though
Gajjdi Jawani: Missed this one sorry!
GOB: A lot messier than they usually are which surprised me. Had some good ideas but didn't match up to the other teams there
DCBC: Had some very strong points in their dance. Saaps were crazy clean - every girl had some great extention with the shikhe. Daang's with the lights were pretty cool too. At their strong points I think they could have competed for 3rd, but I didn't think they would place. There some clear formation errors and a couple girls fell. Good work overall though - one of my favorite all girls teams
Furteelay: These kids have some major energy and dance 110% everytime and you can clearly notice it. Formations were nice, mix was TOO ILL and vardiyaan were awesome. Still towards the end fatigue was clearly noticeable in some of the jodis. In the video you can see some basically walking at certain parts. Even with that though, I would place them above DCBC competing with KPGD for 3rd.
here we go....
SGPD: Their saap segment: Out of this world. It was INSANE. extremely clean, energy was through the rooftop and formations were incredible. I liked the "I need a doctor' intro too. HOWEVER: After Saaps it went waaay downhill for me. It was very very messy for a first place performance and it seemed like they just weren't into it. It seemed like all of the elite 8 segments were being performed like they were being forced to dance. The Saap segment being new, however was hit hard and made a huge impact. In my opinion, the saaps is what won it for SGPD last night. Otherwise it just wasn't normal SGPD for me.....
AEG/SMD: Killed it. Energy was insane, routine was really fast but all dancers stuck with it throughout. Formations were basically perfect and crowd loved every part of it. SGPD may have had a bit more energy cause thats what they do but the cleanliness was what set them apart for me.
Live
BABC: Singer was incredible - without a doubt best singer of the night....I wish the performance was too. Lots of sloppiness and at one point half the team made a mistake on a move. You could tell that preparation was an issue.
DCMPAA: Missed this one too sorry!
Nachdi: Loved this set because it was creative. I understand they only had 2 weeks to prepare but even then the energy was there and they brought it hard. Def deserved a placing however there was some messiness and forgetting of moves which was surprising to see.
DDD: My other favorite team of the night to watch. Seemed like they had done this set 1000000 times. Coordination was spot on, Nakhra was great and they were mad graceful. The girls stuck out to me in this team too...you guys have some amazing dancers. REALLY glad I got to see this live
MY PLACINGS:
Music:
1) AEG/SMD
2) SGPD
3) KPGD
Live:

congrats to all teams that placed! loved dancing with KPGD this weekend and had a great time at my first comp.
special shout-out to 3D. after seeing you guys practice in the dressing room, i immediately became a fan.
only thing i didn't like about this weekend: 2 NC teams, and our state was the only one not listed on the poster. shit ain't funny

Besides placings and all that crap... this weekend was absolute bomb!
Virsa boys and Immortal Soundz really held it down on their part. They really worked with all the teams to get w.e was needed, even when it came to us having a problem with banners with the Venue- Virsa and Jp worked with us until the very end ( Even though the venue still messed it up haha). But seriously they really did a great job, special shoutout to the Sidhu Brothers, Sunny "Monster" , Karma, Sukha , Lucky (DOORMAN! haha ), Mandeep (Sickest Liason), Sandeep ... You all really have brought bhangra back to NYC, hope you all keep up the solid work and continue to put forward a great Comp like this every year.
