Hi...... SIAC coach here......

Ummmm it would be nice if someone answered their phones. We have a truck load of minors waiting for rides to the airport. It be nice if we could get them home to their parents safely.

Thanks

Honestly i dont know whether to feel bad for SIAC or the BSM committee. They admitted they made a mistake because lack of effort from liaisons and committee being understaffed. SIAC is saying stuff from their point of view and BSM in my opinion are telling the overall. I mean its a common sense why would any comp. want to treat their team like shits, once again BSM admitted they made mistake and there could be a reason behind it. they all accept your guys registration for reason. all teams should appreciate the fact they get to perform at any comp. that shows you are also being appreciated because of your talent. When comp. ends every team looks for excuse to blame the committee, and i get it why so they can improve next year but damn you guys taking it too damn far, i mean did you all die? lol. Mistakes are made and I bet they aren't dumb enough to make those mistakes again and Yankee Paji props to you for telling the truth. SIAC did treated their teams really bad so i guess KARMA? for those who weren't there and commenting on this post need to be quiet because honestly this is between the committee, teams, and people who attended the comp so no disrespect but im just saying. hopefully BSM return next year!! Notorious and BSM are the only comp in norcal so rather than saying all negative stuff please give feedbacks and advice so they can improve every year. At the end of the day its all about Bhangra. Live Bhangra, Laugh Bhangra, and Die Bhangra.. stay bless you all!! and SIAC stay warm it's really cold out there.

Alright. First, I agree with your last statement and literally nothing else. This is all about bhangra, this is about being happy dancing, and this is all about the love sure. However, how are you supposed to have a good time if you are mistreated or things go wrong. This is a thread that's a review, and let's be honest most people have posted a pretty comprehensive review.

Also this shits between the teams, the committee, and people at the show? People have a right to know what happened because you are accepting all sorts of teams and they should know what's going on. Sure teams appreciate competing, but the competition should be a fun experience for everyone involved. I didn't dance, but from the feedback there are obvious areas for improvement.

Tl:Dr - let people post reviews since there are so few because there are always aspects to improve on.

Not only that, but if I'm applying to competitions I wanna know what i'm getting myself into. People aren't coming on BTF to bash BSM just because they want to be dicks. Most competitions get a comprehensive review on BTF at some point and if you run your competition well one year, you're likely to get more applications, better teams, and a better turnout. And vice versa if you run your competition poorly. So it's not just about teams getting an opportunity to dance, but it's also about what competitions have to gain by being welcoming and attentive to competing teams. Obviously as teams, we should respect that we get the opportunity to grace the stage, but it goes both ways.

I am glad that BSM seems more apologetic though and it sounds like they understand that they created an unpleasant experience for the dancers. Like i said in my original post, take the comments and critiques and build off of it. Still a very young competition and improving on the feedback that has been posted above will hopefully allow you guys to keep the competition going for many years!

This is how false rumors surface and spread.

Surrey India Arts Club was not affiliated or involved with the RPVD competition that Yankee mentioned. Juggie (SIAC coach) and his team (AVA) helped the committee (RPD) who was organizing the show. Let me make this clear, Juggie, AVA, and SIAC did not organize the RPVD competition. Juggie and AVA simply volunteered their time to help the organization whom put the show on.

Yes that competition did not run smooth. Yes mistakes were made. However, Juggie, (along with other prominent members of the Bhangra community in Surrey) worked hard to raise enough money and settled all outstanding debts with each and every team.

Harjot bhaji, I said "tusi", not "tu". Competition di gall keeti aa naa ki "juggie bhaji" di.

jinha k sanu pata ja yaad aa 2012 da, juggie bhaji e main bandha si, but then again I'm not blaming him for what took place during that trip.

False rumor? Idk about that, jo sade naal hoyi main tan ohi beyaan keeta. aageh bhai thuadi marji. I don't have any ill feelings towards juggie bhaji, he done none wrong to me and for SIAC, I have few good friends on their team as well.

So yea, you do admit that there were mistakes? Then why is BSM getting all the hate? lol . . . Comps that are well known aren't perfect either. Shit, Nachda Punjab, who people think or should I say thought was one of the best come in Cali, haven't paid us our prize money, yes $$$$$$$!

I rather have teams apply for new comps than go to a well known comp/comps where $green$ would be really tough to lay your eyes on after you head home on Sunday. ;)

Hi BTF,

Thanks Harjot veere for clarifying that for me.

Mr. Yankee I understand what took place a few years back wasn't the smoothest, but myself and all of BC came together to make sure all the teams that attended the competition were paid back every single penny. The actual organizer of the competition had nothing to do with paying anyone back. The people that grinded for months were the volunteers at that competition. If you have any doubts on that then please contact your team captain Nav or PM and we can discuss w.e issues you might have, but making uninformed assumption won't benefit anyone.

juggie bhaji, paiseyan di tan koyi gall vi nahi. All I said was ki joh thuade naal BSM te hoya, ohi saade naal RVPD te hoya si. Thuada vi uddon nama competition si te aah BSM(improved from last year) vi nama e aa and mistakes are bound to happen but that shouldn't be an excuse.

I understand that your team felt sort of the same way we are now with BSM, and I personally like to publicly apologize for any of our wrong doing. The main organizer of RVPD did not reimburse all of the teams fully and since I was the point of contact a lot of responsibility came upon me to clear up the team's funds. Internally I wasn't getting proper responses from the main organizer about reimbursing the teams, so my friends and I (excluding him the main organizer) did a fundraiser and we raised enough money to pay back all the team's money that was promised. This showed 1 aspect that we accepted responsibility and eventually rectified it. Mr. Yankee please let me know if there is anything else I can do to bring peace to the matter of Cal Bhangra at RVPD?

Throughout the BSM weekend we had an overall negative experience. We do understand mistakes happen and also do respect the committee members for hosting the competition and keeping the competitive Bhangra scene going in North Cal. However at this time we are asking for the committee to address our concerns in a timely manner so our minds can fully move onto other Bhangra related work. Thanks

Much #respect to you, Juggie, and your friends for stepping up to the plate and taking responsibility to reimburse teams/give out prize money even though you weren't directly involved with organizing the competition.

That deserves a lot of praises and ALL teams that attended Raunak Punjabi Virsey Di (RVPD) should be extremely thankful for what you guys did. We need more solid people like you in the bhangra circuit.

Let's keep this topic about BSM though. Yankee, please take your issues about other competitions up with the organizers or with the appropriate individuals via PM. Thank you.

~ Basim :)

I strongly disagree, SIAC was super nice and supporting our team on and off the stage.

My advice to BSM would be to bring on some experienced veterans from the Bhangra Circuit, who should be able to sort through all the issues that were experienced this year. I agree that this is one of the last competitions in NorCal and it should continue on!

Announce your staff in advance next year and with the credibility of some experienced Veterans helping run the show, you guys should be more than able to continue on.
