Dhol Etc help

Hey everyone,

I read this forum a lot to keep up with the bhangra world, don't post that much though lol.

Anyways, I needed some help, I need to buy a new dhol and I was about to purchase one from Kala Kendar. However, the deal fell through at the last minute because the dhol I wanted had a crack in it, and they currently only have amb dhols in stock, I need a taali one.

So I began looking around online and came across Dhol Etc. I just wanted to know if anyone else has purchased from them ONLINE and how they're dhols are, and how their service is. If anyone could tell me where they are based, that would be great. All I could really find on the site was they ship their dhols from America.

I was looking at this dhol:

http://www.dholetc.com/dhol_taali_bare.php

I live in Edmonton, so there's no dhol shops around here. From Kala Kendar Toronto, I had my uncle check the dhol out (which is how I found out about the crack).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

hey, i bought a dhol from dholetc a little over a year ago. the dhol came really fast and they give you the soft case with it. the dhols are Nagi and im pretty sure they ship from Patiala. the dhol is pretty nice, good sound what not. i think dhol etc also gives you warranty on the heads for a year so if you rip or break one you can get a replacement and the people running the company are pretty good with customer support/service

lemme know if you need more info

Hey, i ordered a taali dhol from dhol etc almost 4 weeks ago and i still havent received it. I've been calling them like crazy and sending them countless emails but no one has gotten back to me. Does anyone know a better way to get into direct contact with them or anything??

Thanks!

DO NOT ORDER FROM DHOL ETC!!! Very, very, very bad experience. Ordered a dagga head and dhol strap about 3 weeks ago. 2 weeks later, after countless emails and phone calls, I received the WRONG ITEM. My order was about $60, they sent my 5 tillis and a dagga that are worth about $20. I have been calling them, and have not gotten a response. Don't do it. You'll be glad you didn't.

I've been buying from Dholetc for a while now and have only ran into trouble recently. He was out of the country which is why you guys haven't been able to get into contact with him. I just spoke to him today morning and hes back in the country so try calling him now

I got an email saying he was out of the country for a period of time, and that he was back exactly one week ago. After that no response despite several emails, and a wrong item sent.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a dhol online. The prices are way too steep for me. I'm sure you can call the Nagi store in Patiala directly and have them ship you a dhol. It should be a bit cheaper, with the only worry being shipping. I bought two dhols directly from their store years ago, and both are still going strong. One of those is actually the very dhol in my avatar. The second was a bare barrel that I had shipped over and just built myself. See if you can get in contact with the Nagi store in Patiala, or any other quality store in India, such as Calcutta Musicals, and just get it shipped directly. It should definitely save you a couple bucks.

hey man my cousin got his dhol from there the dhols ok i would just look out cause some of there dhols have joints in them meaning the wood was in two pieces or cracked and they join it so it looks like one on the outside but you ll be able to see it on the inside which will affect your dhol long term.
