Has to be.

US West - Two teams
US East - JJ + Aeg/Unc/Fauj Deserve
Canada West - PCBCA
Canada East - SGPD, NJ + Wild Card

If Canada West gets a bid your looking at Elite 8 again..no wildcard.

Again, you could Flip US East and Canada West, but I think as it stands itll follow this format.

Congrats to BK as well. Glad I get to see Sumit, Harman, and my man Millen on the East Coast!

But after ABC not getting a bid and having won idols, it could really go any direction. If they were to take the wildcard, that could really shake up the lineup. This is more complex than March madness bracketology...
[Edit] It's not reflective of the team's deserving (and they really do), but rather due to an unfortunate situation

I think it may be fair to assume that ABC may have decided against performing at Elite 8 this year for whatever reason. ABC was essentially a shoe-in this year for US West and I think it's more likely that they might have declined. I think the biggest and most easily forgotten factor in predicting an Elite 8 line-up is what a team's motivation is to go to Elite 8 and whether they will actually end up going or not.

And unless Nikhil has inside information, I am going to assume that we see 9 teams at Elite 8. I think in most situations, a wild card doesn't replace a regular contender, but is an additional player to the game (which adds a new round of sorts). I see the validity in replacing a regional team with a more deserving team from a more competitive region, but in the case that both are the same, (ie: wildcard is from one of the remaining regions and not Canada East), it seems like a complete waste of the entire concept and makes the wildcard title worthless. If there are only 8 teams, then it's safe to assume that Canada West got the ax to prevent wasting the wildcard hype.

Justin, I think, I'm not 100% though, that they're still going to cap the number of teams to 8, so maybe one of the regions has 3 instead of 2, and another one only gets 1

2. 2 teams from each region except one of them, they'll have only 1. The remaining team (wild card) will come from an unrepresented area. (An example of a unrepresented area, as in Not US East/West & Canada East/West, could be from the midwest USA).
I guess the "unrepresented" group could maybe fall under the Wisconsin, Louisiana, Minnesota,Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missisippi , Alabama, ND, SD, region, but then again how many teams actually come from that area?
And would they be able to compete against teams like those from US & Canada East?
Not really too sure about much and haven't really heard much, but if Elite 8 has 9 teams with 2 from each region and an extra one from either Canada East or US East, that would be an ideal competition.

But if you look at the US, you can split the country easily into halves and making a state like Michigan (which many people refer to as Midwest even though we're still on EST) US east and if look as far as Texas that becomes US west, so each part area of the continet falls under to one of those four categories.

On a sadder note, I was really looking forward to seeing ABC at Elite 8 and its rough that they can't.
However, congrats to BK! Excited to see what they bring.

In their btf posts, the elite 8 peeps say that "8 teams will be competing." It's def. 8 teams!

The thing about Elite is that it is still an East Coast Competition, and money and travel will be a huge factor in any teams that want to come, especially from Canada and US West. Reality > Need to compete. This kind of discussion adds to the comp though...a nice "What if" factor.

sucks that ABC couldn't go. My guess is SGPD, NJ, NYPD. Adding AEG to all the teams already picked, this lineup will be pretty amazing, any one of them can win it. Its a shame that not many co-ed teams are being considered. I know UNC has been thrown out there, but I can't think of any others at this point

First and foremost, congrats again to BK! Swi, we appreciate your inside scoop on this situation, but there were many reasons that factored into not attending elite. We do not feel like it is your position to speak on behalf of ABC's decisions. This was a private matter, and if we felt like we needed to explain ourselves, we would have.
