Please make sure there isn't a 7 minute executive board introduction video this time followed by a five minute emcee introduction video :)

why is the resgistration fee for this competition $30 non refundable and then an additional $25 per person if you get in??? for a team with 16 people that comes out to $430 for a team of 12 with alternates, and the prize money is not much more than that. not trying to say that teams should dance for money, but that much of a registration fee is a lot to ask for.

AKD has a similar set up: $30 non refundable registration fee + $20 per person upon acceptance. However, their cash prizes are $1500, $1000, and $500. This definitely is a lot more than what AKR offers ($600 category winner + $1200 overall best).

However, AKD doesn't distinguish between styles like AKR does. Therefore, all teams are up against each other no matter what style. AKR only makes teams of each style compete against teams within their style, and there are only 3 teams per category. This makes the chance of winning the category cash prize a lot higher.

Not saying that $430 for registration isn't a large sum...it definitely is. However, the chance of winning it back is also pretty high.

Also if AKR has 3 teams as category winner and one separate team as overall best (like last year) then that creates 4 chances to win cash prizes. Definitely increases your chances even more...

Traveling, hotels, and $430 registration is just too much. For a team that needs to travel from a far distance it just wouldn't make any sense.

I guess all competitions have a goal in mind, and catering to teams that are located far away just wasn't one for AKR...which is a shame. Seems like its been structured mostly for teams in the south.

Whattt? AHHHHHH!! SOOO reallly sorry guys!

Maaf kijiye, I don't use BTF that often (embarrassing Newbie status shows it haha!) so I forget my username/password. I finally remembered my old account and realized that I never logged out and I've been posting since. I'm currently trying to delete my account actually but its not doing anything (help anyone? just send me a pm) I changed my email address on the two accounts for the time being so I don't get mixed up anymore.

But moving on, once again just so we're all clear. I am in NO WAY in charge of Aag Ki Raat. I do go to USC, and I'm on 2 of the dance teams here (fusion and bhangra). No one here knows that us dance teams unify on forums such as BTF/DDT. Therefore, I help in advertisement.

BTW, I also want to thank all of you for the input that I'm receiving about AKR. I plan to take any comments/concerns you may have to the board and see if there is anything that can be done... I know what its like as a dancer to see that competitions are fair/realistic in terms of fees/ and overall just tons of fun!!

Hahaha, I actually wish I were in charge of this event because I'd like to have AEG come down here. South's missing out on you guys for sure....I dont know if AKR accepts non-collegiate teams but if so then maybe you all could come down next year!! Just a random bit...I know Columbia University's Raas team has been here a few times... this is me hoping that maybe there's still a chance you all could come!! *crossing fingers*

I'm pretty sure I paid $20 for afterparty on top of the $25 registration too.
