I think Faizan meant NYBD, New York Bhangra Department. They competed in a couple competitions in 2005, which apparently doesn't matter because no one on here seems to remember anything that occurred before 2007.
i remember.

but I would say TBT & VIBE completely vanished

well UBC is not done from wat i know, didnt they put out their promo vid sayin they are back?
and i think someone said soormay, but im pretty sure they announced that they were finished. + they are like all on sher now hah

vanished is a weird term. makes it seem like some team was set to be at a comp and then for some reason they just peacedddd outt and no one has heard from them and thats it. theyre gone. haha

but i guess a team that has 'vanished' would be HURRICANE bhangra...they never really got anythin goin since tarun (phulorida)..there are other florida teams now tho

oh and faizan...NYC Jugni? u guys sorta just stopped being a team outa nowhere...jugni was the shit.

The Bhangra Team (TBT) received a lot of hate back when they were one of the first teams to break away from the modern/purely "stunts" based routines to going completely live (their band played a mix of modern songs, traditional songs, ). I remember when they performed at BOB 06' with Shiv (http://www.theshivshow.com/). I also remember the infamous "I gave your mom TBT" shirts.

If you don't remember any of this, you are either: 1) Not old school folk 2) Did not keep up with POL/the bhangra world 3) A scrub.

Last I heard what that they all got pretty busy with work, married life, graduate school, etc.. hence they didn't come back with a new routine after Bhangra Blizzard 06'.

Good day all,

Not to digress off the "name every team" topic, but I dont think TBT got a lot of "hate". I think most people appreciated what they were doing (taking steps towards traditional bhangra). As I recall, the biggest criticism was that some people were hailing them as messiahs of traditional bhangra, while some complained they had a non-traditional band and song selection. I say take them for what they were -- a good, semi-traditional team who certainly helped to shift the focus of the bhangra community towards live segments/live dances. They had a lot of traditional segments and some traditional singing. Not every team is going to be 100% 100% 100% traditional bhangra.

RHYDEM BOYZ - most badass team to have vanished from the bhangra stage. their singer harpreet randhawa had monstrous vocals and they were the fastest live team to grace the stage. miss seeing u guys at comps.

it's sad that VIBE broke up, but atleast because of that, it formed United.
Punjabi Soormay was a fun team to watch. I remember seeing them at Bash, I got excited to see what they would bring for the rest of the year, but then it ended at Bruin.
LBC was also quite good, but atleast their spirit lives on in India. :)

united started before VIBC retired. Yes a couple of VIBE guys are on there now but it's still mostly United people. I wonder what would happen if VIBE made a comeback...anyone think they would hold up in the new traditional bhangra world?

Thats a hard one. If they do make a come back, say just for one competition or something, i'm pretty sure they would go back to their modern roots, and upon them doing so I can't really see them being able to combat all of the traditional teams that are around at the moment. Their style was unbeatable back in their day but bhangra has much changed since then. But you never know right. It would be cool to see what they would bring. I would be pretty stoked to see them make a come back but just as long as they fix up their moves a bit I.E jugni with hands STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR lol i always see modern teams doing that and damn that just stresses me out, lol.
