GTV 'watchdog', if this video were made for the purposes of being aired on televsion or as a media clip ofcourse we would consult Harjot Paji from GTV, along with the artists of the songs we dubbed in the video, however it is not made for those purposes. Secondly, I feel like we are reverting back to the good old POL negative presumptious attitudes again...
Secondly, I thank you for the feedback Basim...I remember you from the POL days!-

To answer some of your quesitons, our team has been competing since 2002 and we have seen and done it all, and we want to take Bhangra one step beyond competiton now and make a global bang!
Now allow me to be candid and I apologize if I offend anyone:
I believe the calibre of competition that exists now is the same as it was a few years ago (talented, ambitious and creative). We have already been competing against the current teams in the scene, our last competition being Bhangra Bash 2008.
As per your statement: " I wish you guys would compete more in North America, especially now that the competition level is much higher and there are actually other all-females squads in your caliber. "
As for the female teams, the current ones in the field that you speak of still existed when we competed in the recent past, and I'm sorry if this sounds forward, but the results were favourable for us. I'm sorry I even had to write that, but I didn't know how else to respond to your statement. Regardless, what makes me the happiest is to know that so many womens teams have formed and I hope this trend continues to grow into the future!
After 7 years of competing, I do believe we have done it and seen it all, and have got everything we had ever set out to accomplish in this field. I am so proud that our team helped influence and bring equality for girls bhangra...and that in itself is the biggest accomplishment. Our message was always equality...not just in bhangra but within the community at large..equality for women, and that continues to be the fight.
We would now like to transition into taking what we have been able to do in North America and make more of a global influence. (one of the reasons this video was made) I can't say just yet, but we have projects in the works and as soon as they pan out the North American bhangra community will be the first to know!
Don't get me wrong though, we love the rush of competition and we love being around all the talented teams, therefore it is not to say that we won't compete in the very near future, as the thrill of competiton is really something else!!!
As for this video, well it was something we made as an audition/promo piece...it was supposed to showcase an entire routine which is why it is lengthy....I had it and thought I would share it....
Wow, 2002 seems like so long ago...I remember our first big competition was Bruin 2002! We had no idea what these competitions entailed....we wore these hand-me-down outfits with gold head bands on our heads, and no chunis. Our mix...well it wasn't really a mix, as we danced to basically one song for the duration of the routine!!! When I read the judging score sheet I thought "making good use of stage space" meant to use every square inch of the stage, so needless to say the 8 of us had quite the workout during that routine...on top of that we all drank the KMX energy drink for the first time in our lives right before we went on stage and let's just say it wasn't pretty! Wow I can't believe it's been 7 years...that was the year that VIBE blew everyone away!
I meant no disrespect in this message and my apologies if I offended anyone.....love you all...rab rakha
