I can speak clear punjabi in a conversation as well as understand it, whether that be with elders or freshies here from india. I can understand what peeps like yankee write cuz he uses the english alphabet, but i too felt alienated trying to make out what was written. Its cool to write in punjabi man, no doubt, but it would be great to have a translation post underneath as well.
As important as language is, it's still only a part of culture. Someone who doesn't speak the language of his great-grandfathers but still carries on customs and traditions is still considered "cultured"-maybe not as much as a person who speaks the language AND follow customs-but cultured none the less.sumeetj said:i think culture is more about how you act, not whether you can read/write a language. i know plenty of people who embody indian/punjabi culture better than some guys who can read/write punjabi but dont carry on traits of their culture in how they act and the actions they make.
