On October 7th, it came to my attention from more than one source (people, technological tools, etc) that a BTF member had multiple active accounts. This is against forum rules (Rule #9 if you're curious), as it inevitably leads to anonymous trash talk when you're not willing to say it to someone's face (not necessarily saying that had already happened here). The user's second account was banned for life. The user's main account and all IPs he's used were suspended from BTF for 3 weeks.
Please, do not make multiple accounts. We always want BTF to remain a constructive environment where members can discuss all elements of bhangra, even if you have something critical to say of a performance/competition, etc. All we ask is that you relay your opinion with some respect. Without mutual respect, with a bunch of anonymous, duplicate accounts, BTF would turn into the very thing it needed to replace.
The initial punishment here was a 3 week suspension. If we find others creating duplicate accounts (a concern with the bhangra season starting), the punishment may be longer suspensions or worse, and offenders may be named (the ultimate punishment when trying to stay anonymous).
We know 99% of our community are great people and don't need this reminder; I guess it's for the other 1%.
Sincerely,
Saleem + Mod Squad
