Reading all of the posts of people talking about "omg bust out the rape kit, the live teams just got violated" and "there's no way music teams could be placing over live teams" and "the judges are the antichrists of bhangra" - I mean come on!

It's obvious a lot of people here 1: have bhangra knowledge, 2. Can talk a big game, 3. are working on their PhDs and dissertations in Bhangra, and 4. are upset/constipated.

So why not buck the age old desi trend of just bitching alot and do something about it?

Why dont you guys start a new thread around "suggested judging criteria." Someone can post a basis of some competition's judging requirements that you deem legit, and people can toss in their two cents. Also - perhaps some sort of message board where people can post the names of qualified judges they've encountered in different parts of North America and their qualifications, so when comps choose their judges, they have a baseline of some sort of comparison.

Instead of putting each other down, let's try to help each other up.

again, making rules that will apply to everyone is going to be really hard
i personally wouldn't want modern teams and traditional teams having to conform because of rules

i think that having arguments after a select amount of competitions is a very small price to pay for the sake of a constantly changing bhangra scene that is free to push the limits of the competition and themselves.

You're right - that's why it would listed as "suggested judging criteria" - not "mandatory."

Each comp is autonomous to do whatever they want...

This idea has been proposed....repeatedly (most recently right after the original thread started). More importantly this actually has been done multiple times. I guess we took the sticks out of our asses long enough to do the most obvious idea.

real original, real productive.
