I'm a loyal Italy fan ( L )

But realistically the chances of them repeating, is pretty slim to none. If you look at their performance from the Euro Cup, it doesn't look like they will be able to get through the first round. The keep bringing the same players back which makes them the probably the eldest national team. The newer players have something to prove to everyone, whereas the Italian have already been there & done that.

This Year I'm partial to put my money on Spain/Germany, because of their performance at the Euro Cup

I really really want the Dutch to take it this year because after van der Saar is gone that team is screwed, this is the last great chance they will get for a while I think. Too bad Sneijder is a douche who causes problems.

don't know if you missed it, but van der sar has retired from international play for some time now ... although he just extended his contract with Man U for another year, he won't be in the net for us at the world cup. maarten stekelnburg will be getting the start. and even being a loyal dutch fan, i must say he's nothing compared to van der sar. even with the goalie issue, i don't know why people are looking past the dutch as potential winners .... robben, van persie, kuyt, van der vaart, huntelaar, sneijder, van bommel, de jong ... these are just a few of the STARTERS for the Dutch and each one is a key starter on their respective Premier, Bundesliga, Serie A, and La Liga Leagues ... there is just soooo much talent. but as comton mentioned, sneijder is the terrell owens of this team, a complete ass ... but sadly he is viewed as the most complete player on the Dutch.

heres an awesome article on the reasons why the Dutch won't win it, basically it sums up the cancer of the team who is Wesley Sneijder and the problem of having way too many talented strikers.

how has brazil been the strongest team? spain and nederlands have. germany right behind them. italy gota prove themselves again.

ARGENTINA: stacked, they get their act together they could do well, soon as they stop relying on messi that is, hes not much of a force in international ball. anyone heard of Sergio Aguero?! FUCKIN DIRTY! put him n Higuain up top, Messi on the flank HELPING then its over. but they wont, cuz Messi operates as a striker even tho hes on the wing. tevez shud try left wing, theyd pwn clowns.

BRASIL: lineup is a mess, nobody passes cept kaka. fabiano gettin called up? him n robinho dont work well together (both hogs). this team shud be so much better than they have displayed, still watch out. without Lucio in the back tho, they might get silly on defense. CURSE:: no confederation cup winner has ever won the worldcup the year after..awwww.

ITALIA: good one. couldnt even get out of death group in euro2008. buffon still #1 for them, but this team is old. guiseppe the situation rossi needs to step up for them big time. gilardino been doin well for fiorentina, but this teams midfield attack remains a joke. this team has become a bit more defensively sound though in the past year. italy arguably has the easiest group in the cup. if they dont get out with 3 wins from 3 games, ill know theyre not gettin far.

SPAIN: dirty, however torres fitness a concern now; spanish federation doesnt even want him to play much for liverpool even, and david villa is not a replacement for torres. torres operates well as a lone striker with a attacking middie/center forward BEHIND him. spain might play david villa up with him, villa hogs alot. francesc fabregas step it up!

NEDERLAND: dirtiest team in the cup. and they get no respect especially from front running soccerheads that talk shit for italy n brasil and dont really know anything bout soccer. arjen robben is a machine. there is no brazilian or italian or german or english like him. he is their key player, even if they are going to have van persie by the time the cup comes, robben is their main man. van bommel (along with javier mascherano) is prob the best holding midfielder in this cup. aggressive, gets yellows, but knows how to change a midfields game to compensate when yellows have been taken, and can shoot. sleeper: klaas jan huntelaar.

DEUTSCHLAND: YEAAAAA BUDDAYYYYYYY! recently experimented with schweinsteiger holding with ballack in central midfield, pushing the younger ones from u21 up on the right flank. didnt work well, as kroos and müller are more of the forward type of player. Müller has been a bright spot for bayern, but playing schweinsteiger on right and podolski/trochowski on left wing is their best bet. stefan kiessling gettin calledup or wat. mario gomez please die. german defense is as strong as can be, only problem they are having is (AGAIN) finding a wingback to play opposite phillip lahm (Right or left). marcel shaefer (l)? jerome boateng (r)? andreas beck (r)?. solid solid team otherwise, rest of the team is beyond complete. shud make a serious run for the final. rene adler gave argentina the win with a silly error against gonzalo higuain. manuel neuer will play a game or two.

ENGLAND: beckham sucks? wow. just wow. they are gona miss him on the right wing. lennon and wright phillips dont have and never will have beckhams vision on the attack. beckhams season for LA galaxy is obvi being overlooked by most on this thread, and clearly u dont watch him with ac milan either. like navkarn said, theres a pretty damn good reason milan signs him. crossing n freekicks baby. but hes out so enuf bout him. gerrard a concern injury wise (jsut like torres for spain), but regardless i still see him starting at left midfield for the national team. garreth barry n frank lampard in the middle like atinder said. glen johnson at rightback i think if cole is out on leftback they can makeup for it with midfield switching formation to freeup the left wing middie to do work instead. strongest england team in years. assuming they win their group, they shud face germany 2 rounds into the knockout stage:)

USA: please finish in second in ur group, so that Germany can annihilate you in the first knockout stage. kthnx. :)

Portugal: joke
France: joke

italia bandwagoners n brasil bandwagoners, ur up for a rude awakening.

sleeper teams: ivory coast, north korea (ohthats right..theyre both in brasil n portugals group ;) ) <<--death group

man u gota keep up with football man haha brazil has been so good lately i can't even remember the last time they lost. dunga doesn't choose all the brazilian stars but hes found a system that has been workin. plus brazil won confederations cup. to say brazils not a contender is dumb theyv been bringin it for the past year and they def are gona bring it at the world cup. i dont want them to win but they definatetly have a good chance especially with the goalies and defenders they have now (name a right back that is better than either maicon or dani alves)...netherlands has some really talented players up top but their defense isn't anything spectacular

and yea argentina is stacked up front but unless they find a creative midfielder that can provide the strikers with good balls they can't do shit. maradona should make amends with riquelme

trust me i keep up with football lol im not sayin brazil is a bad team, but they shud be a lot better than they are. they are way better than they have shown past couple years. just cuz they win games doesnt mean they are amazing. theyre obvi one of the most complete teams in this cup but if u watch them play game after game, they miss dumb chances because someone (cough fabiano cough robinho) plays ballhog on the attack, if they stopped doin that they would not jsut win their games which they do already, but they'd be raping people and leaving no chance for comebacks late in games like they have done in the past year or so. they shud seriously win like 8-0 every game hah they are that good. and yea maicon n alves are proper wingbacks. dunga doin a good job, but brazil still, not perfect.

sidenote..do u think ronaldinho will make their squad? i kinda hope he does..im goin to this cup so i wana see every star possible hah and im staying in the same hotel as the german national team i wonder who else is stayin there. dheerja find out for me hah.

jawohl.

iran missed out = tear. pakistan/india wtf develop ur players/leagues or send them to europe dammit, or, just sign some brazilians like everyone else in europe hah, they got plenty to go around lol

i dont think dunga wants ronaldinho there cuz how ronaldinho plays goes against dungas methods but havin ronaldinho there would make it much more exciting. id rather hav ronaldinho start than robinho anyday

lmao beckham wasn't even going to be playing much anyway...how are we going to miss him...yeah no one else has his vision and passing but he was fighting to make the squad...forget actually making it onto the field...

may i also mention that ROONEY'S not human at the moment...prlly the best player in the world at the moment
he's making teams look stupid....

netherlands always have a stacked team but never make it anywhere
argentina are sick....maradonna's a joke though
dont see brasil winning it...players dont play well together

Ok, beckham sucking might have been an overstatement haha, i wasn't expecting this kind of supports of Becks. He was great, one of the best of all time, but to say he can keep up with the best is a overstatement of his abilities. The guy wouldn't even start, he's a nice role player that's it, and quit pumping up AC as they are the shit.

As for the Netherlands, I'm not suprised to hear that they won't win the cup, even with the most stacked teams, "Bergkamp, Kluivert, Overmars, Davids, Van Der Sar, De Boer brothers we couldn't muster a fucking title. Being a fan of the Dutch, one must trully love the team. Losing in 98 was tough, losing in penalties against Italy in 2000 was a fucking disgrace, Toldo stopping 2 PK's during REGULAR TIME in the Semi's in our HOMELAND, game ends up in PK shoutout and guess what? We lose....WTF...than not making the WC in 2002.....So here comes WC 06, playing against Portugal and losing a match that had the ref distribute around 16 damn cards (not exactly sure, to lazy to look up the exact number) .....Euro 2008, in the group of Death, just smacking the competition like nothing, only to lose to RUSSIA....

The team is stacked with attacking power, just lacks a little in the defensive/Gk department. Van Marwijk has done an great job, much better than Van Basten......Keeping dutch players happy is not an easy task, especially with the likes of Snijder, love him as a player but hate him as a person.....
