But I do have to agree that, driving while being high out of your damn mind is a bad idea.

I mean, anyone watch that episode of "1000 ways to die" on spiketv, where one dude sat of a sled of some sort and had a rope tied around his waist, which was tied together to a small tractor. For those who have seen it know what im talkin about.

So imagine the damage that could occur while u were in a car. Maybe nothing will happen to you, but what about the people in the car with you, or the other people on the road. Im fine with wanting to smoke, jus dont be stupid about it and get behind a wheel.

I agree with harman. Pro-legalizers need to promote the use of weed responsibly. Weed effects your motor skills, end of story. If you feel like you can smoke and drive, fair enough, but a lot of people can't. Some of then suck, are dangerous. Therefore, I support a complete bar on smoking and driving.
well said thats the only reason I spoke up. I know I can drive high, and I know some people cant.. this argument achieved nothing because Im still going to do it. I dont like when people especially him of all people telling me what to do with my life, I take those risks on my own. You think im a danger on the road, I think id rather drive high then drive in a car with alot of drivers i know.. its a person to person thing and I trust myself more than anyone period.

I dont promote smoking and driving for everyone, but for the people that can handle it.. let it be, stop dictating other peoples lives when you should be living your own, stop bothering other people. If your scared of driving in the car with someone high, then dont thats your right.
No one is trying to dictate how you live your life. Like HarmanSingh said before, this is a public forum where we all can express our beliefs. If your going to take things to a personal level, then you aren't going to add much to this discussion.

You continue to say that YOU can smoke and drive because you know what you can handle, and other people who don't feel like they can do it shouldn't. But that still leaves us with no argument because based on that, there's no way you can standardize how much weed a person can smoke before they are too high to drive.

I haven't seen much of an argument for smoking and driving yet, which is why I'm calling out you, along with everyone else who wants to support that view. To me it just seems completely illogical to even argue for smoking and driving, but I'm curious to see if anyone has any valid points.

Im not here to prove anything to anyone.. I do it and I will continue to do it because I know I can safely.. If you dont believe it thats cool but dont go bashing me and calling me out on an online forum.. what good is that going to get anyone? Your all wasting your time really..

I only spoke up because when I said I can, he came out like he knew me or something saying no you cant, its impossible... yet Ive been doing it for a long time now and Ive yet to see any changes (negative) in my driving. Yeah drinking and driving I dont do because I know that I cant handle it.. Im not stupid I know my state of mind better than anyone.. If it was truley a hazard Id notice it in my driving but I dont so smoking and driving is a yes for me , like it or not..

please this is getting dumb now, all of you can disagree with me for all I care just drop the topic. He got his +1, hes a happy camper now

Harman, lemme ask you this, just simply. Not trying to change your mind on anything. but do you REALLY believe that weed has NO impairment on your functionality? That you can operate a motor vehicle, or other functions, JUST as well when high as not? And if someone posted up 1, 2, or even 10 articles showing evidence that weed DOES infact impair normal abilities, would you continue to do what you do, i.e. smoke and drive?

My only problem with this entire arguement is its 100% opinionated. I don't care what people "know" about themselves. Crazy people aren't aware that they are crazy most of the time. Just as alot of times tipsy people don't necessarily realize they are tipsy. I'm not saying i have 5 papers to present to you on the effects of marijuana on the functional level of people in different scenarios, though a quick pub med search should take care of that.

I think it's the idea of disregard for the safety of others that is the primary concern, only in the face of evidence to the contrary. That is, being under ANY influence hinders ones ability to normally function.

decribe "normally function" .. im not blind when im high, my hearing is improved if anything, my reaction speed even on the more potent buds Ive smoked is normal by the time I decide to drive, I drive slower then normal when im high, im constantly paranoid about cops(paranoia is a side effect of being baked) so I look out in my side mirrors and rearview more than I would when im sober. My gear shifting is 10x improved because im very relaxed and my movements are cleaner whereas when im sober my gearshifting is off at times because I dont pay attention to it, more of a natural function. You think I cant see a problem when its coming up? Im not a terrorist bent on running over all the little kids in the world like you guys are putting me as, I dont lose my feelings for humanity when im high.. your basing all your assumptions on science articles and opinions based on people with different tolerances and experiences.. Im just telling you mine. Im not saying other people should do it, Im just saying I can handle it well. Nothing will change my mind if anything im craving a spliff right now

if you have your own road or freeway or whatever then do what you want but if you drive on public roads then you better be alert as hell because even if you dont cause an accident you will be less mentally equipped to deal with some idiot drifting into your lane or what not. run on sentence, whoa.

on a related note i did an experiment on my weed smoking friend a couple of years ago where i timed his reaction to me hitting him with a stick at different times (not smoking/during smoking/post smoking/ day after smoking). chances are i tried hitting him a little faster after he smoked (its fun) but his judgment was definitely slowed down.

lol you're on the defensive now, which is understandable. I'm not saying you're a terrorist who's hell-bent running people over, obviously you're not trying to harm anyone. My point is this. I may think that I'm okay to drive after 5 beers. Now if I actually calculate my blood-alcohol level, based on my weight, height factors, REGARDLESS OF MY TOLERENCE my blood alcohol level will be X. If X is above legal limits to drive, i could believe i'm better than f*cking dale earnhardt in my whip, but science, facts, and reality tell me otherwise. At that point, it becomes an issue of ego versus reality. And even then probability plays a roll (where am i driving to? how much sleep have I had? did i eat anything? How good is the handling in my car? Am i driving highways, local roads, school zones?). Again, tolerence also plays a roll. But to defiantly state that something has NO influence/a refusal to judge your ability objectively and without a bias is not the smartest course of action, and in THAT i would ask you to consider your state prior to driving. I agree, everyones giving you a bunch of shit here, but I don't think you helped your cause with defiance. It's a choice, but one that should be made with as many factors considered as possible.

Again this is my view on the situation, not trying to change your mind. Just challenging you not to default your decision based on what you have been shown to do, but to approach sensitive/dangerous situations like these case by case. I have driven with/been in cars with people high as fuckkk (most of my college years) who handled themselves great at times, and not so great at other times. But for example i know myself, and I've driven ONCE in my life while high, and I will never do it again because i was DEFINITELY out of whack. Felt like a spaceship :)

btw, most posts to anyone. not just harman. Harman, thanks for being a sport and actually discussing it. Like you said, youre gonna do what you wanna do, but it doesn't hurt to have your own views on anything challenged every now and then. I prefer it, keeps me vigilant.

please dont take this as a personal attack, but this is a pointless ass discussion. when i've had some drinks, like kush, i think im fucking superman. i think i can do pretty much anything, especially drive. at the end of the day, i may feel like i can drive, i might think i can drive, but at the end of the day, there is probably someone sober who can drive a lot better at the moment than i can.

The only driving people should do when they're high is on their gaming consoles in the safety of their own homes.

I recently witnessed an accident near my house, an elderly woman was crossing the street and some douchebag who was noticeably high (which I got to know after he exited the vehicle after the accident) was speeding down the road and turning like a maniac. The lady was struck and her head hit the concrete and split open, and she almost bled to death. The woman almost lost her life because of a driver who was under the influence.

You may be the best driver when you're high.. But that doesn't negate the fact that there's always going to be a higher risk (no pun intended) of accidents when you do it. No one is saying stop smoking, hell, I smoke myself..All I'm saying is don't endanger the lives of your passengers or other drivers on the road.

*This is not directed towards everyone, I'm just throwing my 2 cents into the conversation.

Driving while high, sleepy, drunk, texting, getting head, ANYTHING other than 100% focused on the road is something that has to be considered with caution. this is the POINT! noone's saying don't. Just think about your state, consider the risks, consequences, and form an intelligent decision. done... way over this topic kiddos.
